In Ireland, England, Germany and Italy Before A Jaunt
To Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil In January 2008

With apologies to the late, great James Brown, the hardest working person in show business continues to be… Air Supply's travel agent! Russell Hitchcock , who with his partner Graham Russell ruled the Top 40 airwaves throughout the early to mid-80s with their timeless romantic hits “Lost In Love,” “All Out Of Love,” “The One That You Love” and “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” enjoys joking that “We started this tour in 1976…and never stopped!”

2007 has been a particularly frenetic year for the globetrotting duo. Stateside, in addition to their annual stops at The Orleans in Las Vegas and North Fork Theatre in Westbury, Long Island, they hit numerous Indian reservation casinos across the country. Massively popular throughout Latin America and Asia, they also performed for thousands in Mexico, Japan (doing 16 fall shows in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka) and Macau, one of two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China, which is 37 miles southwest of Hong Kong.

Air Supply also played in South Africa for the first time in 23 years, headlining two shows each in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Most of their tour stops are pure joyfests for Russell, Hitchcock and their three other bandmembers, but their gig in the 3,000-seat showroom at the Johannesburg's Carnival City casino proved slightly harrowing, after the fact. Ten minutes after they left the building, 16 men in ski masks with AK-47s stormed in and held up the casino. The casino was locked down till five a.m. the next morning, four people were shot and the papers reported that the thieves got away with “an undisclosed amount of cash.”

This wasn't the first time Air Supply flirted with disaster. In July, 2005, Hurricane Dennis barreled into Havana just after they performed for 175,000 ecstatic fans during their first official visit to Cuba's capital city. Their second night was cancelled and they were grounded an additional 24 hours while the storm blew through. Graham Russell treated hundreds of local evacuees to an impromptu mini-concert in the ballroom of the Hotel De Nacional.

Having just completed their Asian swing in the fall, the duo heads for dates in Ireland, England, Germany and Italy as they gear up for a handful of January, 2008 dates in Rio De Janeiro, Sao Paulo and other cities in Brazil.

Air Supply followed up its 2005 Live CD/DVD anniversary release It Was 30 Years Ago Today with the 2006 release of the band's first all-acoustic recording The Singer and The Song .

Russell has been opening many of their shows with acoustic renditions of several songs from his first ever solo CD, 2007's The Future . Hitchcock promises that the next Air Supply recording—a “concept album” currently in progress—will be completed soon and ready to release in March, 2008.

“The other night, when we were doing an interview for a magazine in Macau, it hit me that it's quite an achievement to be playing with the same partner for 33 years,” says Hitchcock. “Not many bands have been around this long, and we're very proud of all we've accomplished and excited that we still have the opportunity to share our music with so many people around the world. Folks in Asia tell us that they've learned English from singing our songs, and we love to hear things like that. Traveling can be exhausting, but everything's fine the minute we hit the stage and start sharing our music with the audience.”

Acoustic Project follows successful release of ‘It Was 30 Years Ago Today,' Their Second Live CD and Very First Live DVD Recording, Which Celebrated Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock's Three Decade Partnership

Truly living out the lyrics to their 1982 pop classic “Sweet Dreams,” Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock—principals in the famed 80's hitmaking duo Air Supply—celebrated their 30 year partnership in 2005 with a couple of exciting firsts. Earlier in the year, they released ‘It Was 30 Years Ago Today,” their first live DVD Recording, to great acclaim. They are currently capping that off with The Singer and The Song , Air Supply's very first all-acoustic project.

Russell and Hitchcock originally made the exclusive recording available only to “Airheads,” their affectionate term for their legions of fans worldwide. Now, it's available to the general public via their website www.airsupplymusic.com . The Singer and The Song features the duo's familiar cavalcade of hits (including “All Out of Love,” “Lost In Love “The One That You Love” and “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All”) done as vocal-guitar duets, recorded in one take each with no overdubs.

The collection also features “Yours Truly,” their popular crowd-pleasing song from their 2000 album of the same name, and “Love and Other Bruises,” Air Supply's first big Australian hit from the late 70s.

The project came together very spontaneously one day last August, when Hitchcock was up in Park City, Utah (where Russell lives) and the two performed with the Utah Symphony at Deer Valley Resort. “We had never done an acoustic record before, and one afternoon we just said, ‘Why not? Let's do it,'” says Russell. “The next day, we gathered around a microphone in my studio with my guitar and our two voices. We did all twelve tracks in one afternoon. The charm of the whole project was the spontaneity. With most projects, we talk about it and plan everything, but this time was more exciting because we had no idea what to expect.

“We titled it after what it was, The Singer and The Song, because that's exactly what the album is, just the songs, presented live and organically,” he adds. “It's raw, but there is a beautiful serenity to it as well.”

Inspired by the success of their just-released live DVD recording, Russell and Hitchcock thought it would be fun to give their fans a visual chronicle of the special day in the studio, so they called a friend of theirs to film four tracks in High Definition video. The resulting DVD is included in the packaging of the album.

In addition to these two new CD/DVD releases, Air Supply kept up their breakneck touring pace in 2005, performing numerous shows in the U.S., Mexico and a memorable “street scene” concert for 175,000 fans in Havana, Cuba just before the onslaught of Hurricane Dennis in July. Trapped for a few days at the Hotel Nacional, Russell performed an impromptu acoustic concert for storm evacuees in the ballroom.

Now, with the release of The Singer and The Song, “Airheads” worldwide can hear this famed duo present their hits in this unique and intimate way.

A TWENTY-YEAR LABOR OF LOVE, STRAIGHT FROM SHERWOOD FOREST: AIR SUPPLY'S GRAHAM RUSSELL UNVEILS THE MUSIC FOR HIS EXCITING NEW EPIC ROCK OPERA ‘THE HEART OF THE ROSE,'
WHICH TELLS THE PASSIONATE TRUE STORY BEHIND THE ROBIN HOOD LEGEND

Due To Drop In March, The Nottingham, England Native's First-Ever Solo CD, ‘The Future' , Wraps Romantic Lyrics In Unique Rhythmic, Electronica and Acoustic Settings

Starting on Valentine's Day At Harrah's Casino in Kansas City, Russell Will Be Opening All Air Supply Dates With A Three Song Acoustic Set Featuring Songs From The Album

When Graham Russell was nine years old, he ventured for the first time into a forest, located just at the edge of his hometown of Nottingham, England, that has captured the Western World's imagination for over seven centuries. Finding himself lost in the dark, dense and spooky Sherwood Forest—the real live home of the great Robin Hood legend—he says, “its magic became a part of me. I somehow felt I had returned home.”

Now, many years, countless hit records and thousands of concerts around the world later, Russell—better known to still-rabid romantic pop music fans as one half of Air Supply , with songwriting and performing partner Russell Hitchcock—is bringing that magic to glorious and exciting musical life with his ambitious new rock opera The Heart Of The Rose .

With forty pop and rock flavored songs penned by Russell and a book written by the composer, his wife Jodi Russell and noted British historical writer Graham Phillips (author of the 1988 bestseller Robin Hood: The True Story ), the musical presents the real story behind the powerful Robin Hood myths that have hijacked it in our renderings of the tale since the 14th century. The Heart Of The Rose , based on the extensive historical research of Philips, is the culmination of a 20-year musical journey for Russell, who started the project at his home studio in 1987 (a few years beyond Air Supply's initial heyday) and worked on it in pieces over the years between the band's frenetic tour schedule of over 120 global dates per year.

On January 29, Russell previewed ten selections from The Heart Of The Rose for an elite group of potential investors at the penthouse home of Sandie Tillotson, owner of Nu Skin, a direct selling company that sells cosmetics, nutritional supplements and technology services; her penthouse, located in the Time Warner Building in Columbus Square, offers a 360 degree view of New York. The evening, which was a highlight of NYC based social events attended by top Broadway theatre people, included performances of Russell's songs by top singers Karla DeVito (Meat Loaf's first female partner), Tony Harnell from the Norwegian rock band TNT, Broadway vocalist Stan Brown and Russell himself. The highly successful event was capped off with cuisine and wine from Gabriel's restaurant.

“The response was incredible, and it's especially gratifying for me because the show's been coming for a long time,” says Russell. “Everyone at the presentation echoed the wow factor of these songs, that the music just grabs hold of you and is very passionate and moving. The idea behind The Heart Of The Rose is to convey the true, heroic story of Robin Hood, out of the green tights we traditionally place him in.”

Russell first had the brainstorm to tell the story in the mid-70s, just as he was about to appear in the Australian production of Jesus Christ, Superstar , where he met his future Air Supply partner Russell Hitchcock. “During the show, I began to realize how a show called Sherwood could be staged,” he says. “But then, something happened that put Sherwood on hold for a while. Air Supply became extremely successful, touring, recording, writing songs and playing all over the world for many years to come."

“Once I had time to dedicate to making the dream of Sherwood a reality, it took on a life of its own and came together very quickly,” Russell adds. “I sang most of the roles myself at this stage, but the people that worked on the project would become immersed in it and take on their own roles. Being spurred on by Jodi, we took a trip to England to gather more historical information and completely by chance, met Graham Philips. The three of us traversed England, this time looking for the ‘real' Robin Hood. What we found was a thousand times more interesting than the legend. He led us to a place that exists in all of us, whose physical embodiment is a Holly tree beside a mesmerizing pool of water, encircled by ancient stones in the very heart of England. Hidden from all until the time is right, it was a place not bound by this dimension, Robin had led us to the Heart of the Rose .”

In addition to this ongoing project, Russell is also excited about the March release of The Future , his first ever solo CD, which wraps his always romantic lyrics in unique rhythmic, electronica and acoustic settings very different from the music of Air Supply. On Valentine's Day (a highly appropriate time, considering the way Air Supply's romantic songs have transfixed generations of fans) in Kansas City at Harrah's Casino, he will begin a “new career” as an opening act for Air Supply. His brief set, featuring him playing only his acoustic guitar, will include his new songs “Make You Mine,” “Lace and Leather” and the title track of The Future . His set will then morph into the main show.

Currently being released on Air Supply's own A Nice Pear label, The Future will be launched at radio with its first single, “Let Yourself Go.”

“I've always been a fan of other kinds of music like techno and more acoustic singer-songwriter artists,” says Russell. “This solo album finally gives me a chance to play in some of the other styles I love. Air Supply records an album every few years, and there is so much material I have written that has never been released because I'm writing all the time. The Future isn't a completely separate entity entirely, but it shows a different part of me that Air Supply's fans haven't seen yet. I'm excited about finally having the opportunity to share it with them.”

NEARLY THREE DECADES LATER,
THE WORLD IS STILL LOST IN LOVE
WITH AIR SUPPLY

80's Hitmaking Duo Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock Celebrate Three Decade Milestone With Release of ‘ It Was 30 Years Ago Today ,' Their Second Live CD and Very First Live DVD Recording

Mix of Classic Hits and Newer Songs Recorded In August 2004 At Canada 's 7,000 Seat Casinorama

If James Brown is the ‘Hardest Working Man in Show Business,' the hardest working band over the past three decades has to be Air Supply, whose principals Graham Russell (keyboards, guitars, vocals) and Russell Hitchcock (vocals) have literally toured together every year since meeting while performing in a Sydney, Australia production of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1975. With a titular wink to The Beatles, their mutual chief influence, the duo celebrates its incredible personal and professional hitmaking partnership on It Was 30 Years Ago Today , their very first Live Concert DVD Recording whose audio portion can also be played independently as a CD.

Filmed and recorded in August 2004 at the 7,000 Seat Casinorama arena outside of Toronto, the show features all of the hits that made them the kings of pop and Adult Contemporary radio in the early 1980s—“Lost In Love,” “All Out of Love,” “Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You),” “Even The Nights Are Better,” “Two Less Lonely People In The World,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Making Love Out of Nothing At All.” The concert also includes a handful of the prolific group's best post-heyday songs, including the brand new “Shadow of The Sun,” and one of their live show's longtime signature moments—Russell and Hitchcock going out into the audience and singing “The One That You Love.”

“My favorite part of our concerts is the interaction with the audience, and going into the crowd to sing that song really defines the way we connect with our fans,” says Russell, who wrote or co-wrote most of Air Supply's signature hits. “We love doing it. I think the reasons these songs continue to resonate with people all over the world is that they are simple and infectious. Our message is simple and they bring people together.

“They're classic tunes that stay popular because people still want to hear them on the radio, and we still love playing them live,” he adds. “It's particularly exciting when parents bring their kids to the shows, the way we're able to span the generations. Because so many of our fans have been so loyal over the years, we're always finding new ways to change the show and make it more exciting for them. It had been ten years since our previous live CD that was recorded in Taiwan , and Russell and I thought it would be a good idea to do this DVD as a time capsule marking our 30 th year together.”

Echoing his longtime partner, Hitchcock says, “In this day and age, it's really a great achievement to work with the same person for 30 years. The music business being what it is, very few bands and duos stay together this long. So the DVD is a way for us to acknowledge that and give something special to the fans who have been so supportive over the years. From the moment we met in the Male Chorus room of Jesus Christ Superstar, we found incredible things in common…from both being from working class families to our love for the Beatles and the same movies and food! Over the years, we've been able to maintain this incredible friendship and have never shared one cross word with each other. We both brought our unique talents to the table and shared the same vision for what Air Supply would be, both then and now. And of course, our voices have always complemented each other, and Graham is just a phenomenal songwriter.”

Over two decades after their last Top 5 hit—the classic #2 power ballad “Making Love Out of Nothing At All,” featured prominently in the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie blockbuster Mr. & Mrs. Smith—the duo and their longtime ensemble show no signs of slowing down, performing their biggest hits for thousands of fans around the world, an average of 120 dates a year. Thus far in 2005, they have performed in Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala and Cuba. Though they do annual dates throughout the U.S. and occasionally visit their homeland of Australia (Hitchcock was born there, Russell in England), Air Supply is currently even more popular in constant demand throughout Asia and Central and South America.

The end of the band's chart heyday in the U.S. circa mid-80s opened up an exciting new world of opportunity, literally—including performing in China, Japan and Beirut, playing for Prince Charles and Princess Diana at the Australian Bicentennial in 1986 and becoming one of the first bands ever invited to play North Vietnam. While establishing enthusiastic fan bases throughout the globe, Russell and Hitchcock continued to record top selling international albums. Their four 90s recordings on Giant (The Earth Is…, The Vanishing Race and News from Nowhere, Book of Love) all sold over a million worldwide. Their most recent albums include Yours Truly on Warner Bros. (2001) and the independently released Across The Concrete Sky.

Even before they first charted in the U.S. in early 1980 with “Lost In Love,” Air Supply was familiar to numerous pop fans here and in Canada via their extensive touring with Rod Stewart in the late 70s. In 1979, they released Life Support, which included the original version of “Lost In Love.” Their early multi-platinum albums include Lost In Love (1980), The One That You Love (1981), Now and Forever (1982) and Greatest Hits (1983).

“One of the nicest things about our shows is that we always hear new fans tell us they didn't know we did this song or that song,” says Hitchcock. “A friend of mine who played for Ozzy Osbourne once said to me, ‘I can't tell anyone I know that I like your music.' That's just it, we were never cool, but the songs, lyrics and melodies have somehow touched people everywhere with their honesty. Recently at the airport in Guatemala, this guy told me his sister learned to speak English by listening to our records, because we enunciate every word! So we're entertainers and well as educators. We've been on the road for so long and in so many places, it's easy to take that sort of thing for granted, but we still enjoy what we do so much. As long as we have new music to write and play and something valuable to offer, we'll be out there.”

Air Supply's It Was 30 Years Ago Today also features Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock's longtime bandmates, pianist Jed Moss, bassist Jonni Lightfoot and drummer Mike Zerbe.
