TAMMY COCHRAN ENTERTAINS THE TROOPS WITH TWO CONCERTS
Epic Nashville Artist To Appear at Bases in Southwest

NASHVILLE, TN -- Epic Nashville artist Tammy Cochran is set to entertain the troops and their families at two military bases this week: Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM and Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, AZ.

Cochran's visit to Cannon Thursday (May 14) is her second appearance for the Spirit of America Tour, and she is the first female artist to be a part of this tour. The Spirit of America Tour is underwritten by the Robert and Nina Rosenthal Foundation, a non-profit organization. Since September 11, the foundation has been organizing entertainers to go to military bases
throughout the United States. Cochran's second military appearance this week takes place Saturday (May 17) at Fort Huachuca, as part of the Miller Lite Army Concert Tour.

In addition to the live performances, Cochran also recently taped a PBS Special saluting the troops, which airs July 4th.

Cochran became a household name with country fans in 2001 with the release of her single, "Angels in Waiting." Her current album release, Life Happened, continues to build what looks to be a long and successful career in music.

THE DEFENSE INTELLIGENCE AGENCY (DIA) AWARDS
TAMMY COCHRAN FOR HER DEDICATION TO CYSTIC FIBROSIS

Back in October, Tammy Cochran was invited to Washington, DC, to be a guest speaker at the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Capitol Area Combined Federal Campaign, which benefits over 3,000 Cystic Fibrosis Charities. Due to her hectic schedule, including preparation for her tour with George Strait, Tammy addressed the event via recorded message.

Tammy has just now been presented with DIA’s Special Service Award for her commitment to Cystic Fibrosis. Her critically acclaimed song "Angels in Waiting," a tribute to her two brothers who suffered from the disease, is among her many contributions to the cause.

"On behalf of the men and women of the Defense Intelligence Agency, I thank you, " expressed L.E. Jacoby, Vice Admiral of the U.S. Navy to Cochran. "Your generous support to our campaign will go a long way toward helping those in need. Your personal fight against Cystic Fibrosis sets an example for all to follow. We are honored you took the time from your busy schedule to participate in this worthy cause. "
"Love Won’t Let Me," the second single from Tammy’s critically lauded Life Happened, is currently rising up the country charts.

TAMMY COCHRAN LENGTHENING HER ROAD LESS TRAVELED
***
Songstress Performing in Atlanta and Nashville in Same Night

When Tammy Cochran found out she was selected as one of the five performers for the Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc.’s prestigious annual New Faces Show she was elated. When she found out she was opening for her hero George Strait’s "The Road Less Traveled Tour" in Atlanta on the very same night she knew she had a challenge. Something had to give . . . or did it?The New Faces Show – which takes place Friday, February 21 - is an influential concert held during the Annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, which attended by over 2000 of country music’s leading radio programmers, music directors, station owners, and music industry professionals. Other artists of prominence who made their debuts at the New Faces Show include the Dixie Chicks, Alabama, Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Martina McBride and even George Strait himself."I know how important this performance can be for an artist," said Tammy, who is the sole opening act on Strait’s hot "Road Less Traveled Tour." "The show has been a springboard for some of my favorite artists, and I desperately wanted to be a part of it. George Strait and (his manager) Irv Woolsey have been incredible gentlemen about this, and they even moved the start time of my set earlier so I could make it to Nashville."At least two roads converged in Tammy’s favor to ensure she would be present at both events. One is the fact that Atlanta is on Eastern Time, and Nashville is on Central giving her an extra hour to make it to Nashville. A police escort will be waiting to take Tammy to a chartered plane that will be gassed up and ready to head north as soon as she steps off the stage at the Gwinnett Center outside Atlanta. A car and another police escort will then be waiting at the Nashville airport to wisk her to the New Faces appearance."The CRB, and in particular the New Faces Show Committee, has been very accommodating through this whole process," said Larry Pareigis, Senior VP of Promotion for Epic/Monument Records. "Everyone at the CRB and in Tammy’s camp has jumped through hoops to make this happen, and I can’t tell you how much we appreciate it."As soon as Tammy concludes her New Faces Performance and catches her breath, she’ll board her bus for an overnight trek to another Strait date in Raleigh, NC. "The Road Less Traveled Tour" will conclude the following weekend in Ft. Wayne, IN and Louisville.

TAMMY COCHRAN STRIVES TO BE TRUE TO HERSELF

The media compares Tammy Cochran to Barbara Mandrell, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette—associations that the singer
finds both flattering and frightening. "Whew! Those are pretty big shoes to fill," Tammy recently told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette when they made the connection.
"I think that everybody is a product of their influences…the fact that people hear them in my music is a tremendous compliment." In fact, the Tammy Wynette comparison sparked the nickname for Tammy’s current "Road Less Traveled Tour" with George Strait—the "George and Tammy Tour.""It’s really cool they see it like that," Tammy told The Quad-City Times. "But there’s only one George and Tammy."While Tammy is happy that people see the similarities, she really just wants to be herself. "Those women were important because they were themselves," she says. "I have to try to be myself." Tammy continues to open for George Strait on the "Road Less Traveled" tour until the end of February, performing in major cities across the country. "Love Won’t Let Me," the second single from her Life Happened, is burning up country’s Top 40.

ROUND AND ROUND SHE GOES: TAMMY COCHRAN
TAKES THE STAGE LIKE NEVER BEFORE

Performing in the Round on George Strait’s "Road Less Traveled" tour, Tammy Cochran is learning to work the crowd in a different way. For the "Angels in Waiting" singer, it’s a brand new experience, but one she prepared for before the tour began."None of us had ever performed in the round before," she says of herself and her band. "We got a big rehearsal hall and taped off the sides of the stage. Then the whole band rehearsed in the round to get ready for the show and get used to the feel of that type of setting.’Despite the practice time and performances, Tammy is still adjusting to the demands of cameras that project close-ups on the Jumbo-Tron screens. "It’s kind of weird having four cameras, one on each side," she says. "And it felt a little silly at first because you have about 50-60 rows that are watching you while you watch the cameras."The cameras stay in the center on each side of the stage throughout the performance. "You can’t linger in the middle of the stage too long, or the cameras lose you," Tammy learned. "Unless you’re really tall—and I’m not. " So Tammy perfected her outside game to compensate for her height. "I pretty much work the perimeter," she says. As Tammy follows the "Road Less Traveled" until the end of February, making stops in cities like Chicago and DC, the second single from her Life Happened, "Love Won’t Let Me," keeps rolling…up the charts.

TAMMY COCHRAN PERFORMS A BALANCING ACT
BUT THINKS WITH HER HEART

As Tammy Cochran continues on the "Road Less Traveled" George Strait tour, "Love Won’t Let Me," the second single from her sophomore effort, travels up the country charts. Backstage at a recent tour stop in Phoenix, AZ, Tammy reflected on what the song means to her. "It’s a song about the emotional struggle between your head and heart when you get out of a relationship and somebody new comes along," says the "Angels in Waiting" singer. "Your mind says, ‘Do not do this. Don’t take a chance on somebody new, you’re just going to end up with more heartbreak.’ But your heart is telling you, ‘This could be different. This could be the one.’ It’s a real struggle to decide what you’re going to do."Does Tammy think with her head or her heart? "I think my heart usually wins," she says.Tammy began touring with George on January 16 and will continue throughout the month of February, stopping in such cities as Chicago, Washington, DC and Atlanta. The tour is staged in the round with both George and Tammy playing to all sides of the stage during their arena dates.

TAMMY COCHRAN AND GEORGE STRAIT SHARE FUNNY MOMENT ON THE
"ROAD LESS TRAVELED TOUR"

The winter leg of George Strait’s "Road Less Traveled Tour," has been launched with Epic recording artist, Tammy Cochran, opening each of the dates.
On the opening night of the tour, Tammy met George for the very first time, and she began expressing her feelings of respect and appreciation for him. It was only afterwards that she realized he hadn’t heard even one word she had spoken because he still had his ear monitors in.
This "George and Tammy" pairing kicked off on January 16 and will continue throughout the month of February with stops including Chicago, Washington, DC, and Atlanta. The tour is staged in the round with both George and Tammy playing to all sides of the stage during their arena dates.
"It is a dream come true to have the privilege of playing these dates with George Strait. He continues to be an inspiration in regards to the type of artist that I hope to be. Not to mention, on this tour I’m singing to the greatest country music fans in the world." says the "Angels in Waiting" singer who recently released her sophomore disc, Life Happened to high regard. "Love Won’t Let Me" is Cochran’s latest single starting to sizzle at radio.

COUNTRY MUSIC STAR TAMMY COCHRAN GUEST STARS WITH
BILLY RAY CYRUS IN ‘ANGELS IN WAITING’ – SPECIAL ‘DOC’ EPISODE
BASED ON HER AWARD-WINNING SONG
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2 ON PAX TV

(NEW YORK, NY)— Country music singer/songwriter Tammy Cochran is garnering rave reviews for Life Happened, her sophomore album from Epic Records. But it's "Angels In Waiting," the title track from her first award-winning CD, that has led to her acting debut on "Doc," the #1 series on PAX TV starring Billy Ray Cyrus.
This special episode, also entitled "Angels In Waiting," is based on the song Tammy co-wrote as a tribute to her brothers, Shawn and Alan, who both passed away at a young age due to Cystic Fibrosis (CF). The music video from that song previously won Best Video awards from organizations such as Billboard magazine and received heavy rotation on music channels such as CMT and GAC. "Doc" producers Gary and Dave Johnson were touched by the song’s lyrics, felt it was a very appropriate topic for the show, and decided that Cochran should actually appear in the episode. In the episode, Doctor Clint Cassidy, portrayed by Billy Ray Cyrus, enlists a Nurse's Aid named Amy (Tammy Cochran) to help him reach a cynical teen-age patient – then discovers Amy needs some healing of her own. Viewers can tune into "Doc" on PAX TV, on Sunday, February 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) to learn more about the surprise plot and see Tammy perform "Angels in Waiting."
Explains Cochran, "I never thought my song would even be a single or get so much attention - let alone become the story-line for such a popular TV series. I respect the way Billy Ray and the show’s producers portray dramatic and sometimes controversial topics in such a family-friendly manner. To say I'm looking forward to seeing the song come to life as a television program is an understatement. I'm sure it will be something that my brothers would have been very proud of."
Tammy will be on the road between Michigan and Wash. DC on tour with country music superstar George Strait when the episode airs, but she, her band and crew plan to have a viewing party on the road to watch the show.

TAMMY COCHRAN WINS
ABC RADIO NETWORKS REAL COUNTRY LISTENER
‘NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR’ AWARD

Tammy Cochran who rose to fame with her acclaimed debut album containing "Angels In Waiting," her song inspired by the loss of her two brothers to Cystic Fibrosis, has been named "New Artist of the Year" by the ABC Radio Networks 2002 Listener Awards.
In September Real County invited listeners to call in or email their vote in several categories. ABC Radio Networks Real Country is a country music format heard by a weekly audience of over 1 million listeners over 150 radio stations in the United States. Real Country listeners are identified as true country music fans whose musical choice is deeply rooted in country music tradition.
In accepting her trophy for "New Artist of the Year," Cochran explained, "This award along some of the other recognition that has come my way, is further validation that there is place for music that comes from the heart. If I can touch people in meaningful ways, all the hard work is time very well spent. ‘Thank You!’ to everyone at ABC Radio Networks and to your wonderful listeners."
Speaking of country music tradition, Cochran’s just released 2nd CD; Life Happened has also been met by an overwhelmingly positive response. Country Weekly magazine says Cochran has "established herself as a throwback to the era of another Tammy: Wynette." Music Row adds, "Life Happened is an album of which all Music Row can be proud. This should be a contender for Album of the Year." Says USA Today, "Other women may sell more albums than Cochran this fall, but few of them will have made country albums this substantive." And Billboard wrote, "Tammy Cochran believes in making country music that reflects real life."

LIFE HAPPENED HIT STORES ON OCTOBER 15TH TO STELLAR REVIEWS

Tammy Cochran is in the midst of promotional activities for Life Happened, her sophomore CD just released to critical acclaim on October 15th from Epic Records. But Cochran is not too busy to honor the lyrics of "Life Happened," by being a true friend and preparing her amazing lasagna recipe for 150 guests at her high school best friend’s wedding over the weekend in North Carolina.
Cochran, who is originally from Ohio, just happens to be conducting a series of performances, charity events and radio station visits this coming week in Cleveland for WGAR, Akron WQMR and WYGY in Cincinnati. Then a call came from a high school girlfriend who requested Cochran as her maid of honor and to prepare her delicious pasta dish as a wedding present. After impressing everyone with her lasagna Cochran is a heading back to an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville this Saturday and next it’s off to Philadelphia to visit WXTU.
The hard work is paying off for Tammy Cochran and her new album. According to Nashville trade publication Music Row, "Life Happened is an album of which all Music Row can be proud. This should be a contender for Album of the Year." USA Today wrote, "Other women might sell more albums than Cochran this fall, but few of them will have made country albums this substantive." Billboard adds, "Tammy Cochran believes in making country music that reflects real life." And she proved it this weekend.

TAMMY COCHRAN MISSES JERRY LEWIS AT LABOR DAY TELETHON
BUT "LIFE HAPPENED"

Tammy Cochran really appreciated being invited back this past Labor Day weekend, to sing "Life Happened," her current hit song, on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. But for Tammy there was someone missing… Jerry Lewis. Due to his ongoing health concerns, Mr. Lewis wasn’t able to be on camera that holiday morning at the time when Tammy was scheduled to perform. Last year after Cochran made her debut performance on the telethon with her big hit "Angels In Waiting," Mr. Lewis called her back on stage to explain that Cochran is one of his daughters favorite singers. "It was fantastic to be part of the telethon again this year for such an important cause. To be one of the performers that morning along with Phil Vassar, Little Richard and Chicago was pretty exciting. I was hoping to see Jerry Lewis again this year and thank him for the wonderful things he said and having me on again. What he told the audience last time was one of those special moments of my career. See you next year Jerry!" "Life Happened," Tammy Cochran’s long-awaited new album is set for release October 15th by Epic Records Nashville.

TAMMY COCHRAN "LIFE HAPPENED"
TO BE RELEASED OCTOBER 15, 2002

When "Angels In Waiting" emerged as an unlikely country anthem in 2001, it provided a telling blueprint for Tammy Cochran’s career. The song delivered her dream by relating an honest tale from her own life. Written about her two brothers, Shawn and Alan, who died from cystic fibrosis, "Angels" was not intended to be a single—she even had to fight to keep it on her debut album. But it became an anthem for many Americans, such a strong symbol of hope that her name appeared five times on the finalists list for the Academy of Country Music Awards, making her the most-nominated female in the business.Smartly, Cochran adhered to the same criteria of honesty and believability in creating her sophomore album, Life Happened. Instead of searching for a group of songs that all had the potential for release as a single, she looked for songs that spoke to her—songs that connected to her soul."I wanted to continue the realness," she says.Cochran succeeded quite handily. Guided by the same heart and determination that created "Angels," Life Happened suggests that Cochran could easily be making music for a long period of time. Tastefully emotional and impressively grounded in reality, the album segues 11 songs in a masterful portrait of a typical relationship. Opening with the cautious bliss of a new romance, it follows a sadly typical trail, capturing periods of satisfaction, betrayal and sorrow. But it comes back around to a sense of renewal."Basically," Cochran laughs, "it’s one vicious circle of heartbreak."Much like "Angels," however, Life Happened processes the heartbreak in a manner that retains a sense of hope."By the end of the record, ‘All In How You Look At Things’ makes you reflect on the first part of the album and say, ‘OK, well this all happened for a reason.’"That reflects Cochran’s view of life. She recognizes the gritty realities of existence, but remains doggedly upbeat."I like songs that leave something positive behind," she says, pointing at the album’s "White Lies And Picket Fences" as an example. "It’s such a well-written song, and it’s obviously about a troubled woman who has heartbreak in her life. But toward the end of the song, she’s OK, she’s doin’ fine. It leaves a positive feeling, and that’s what I wanted to accomplish, ‘cause I really think I’m a positive thinker."Her first outing certainly achieved positive results. Even as "Angels In Waiting" and her follow-up hit "I Cry" established her with the general public, Cochran earned accolades from the critical media, which compared her most often to country icons Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. Billboard magazine suggested that she "could become one of the format’s true torchbearers," while Entertainment Weekly enthused, "A star is born." Meanwhile, she lived out her "leave something positive behind" philosophy. Moved by her two brothers’ struggle with cystic fibrosis, she used the "Angels" video to increase awareness of the disease, and she became an ambassador for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She appeared on the CFF’s annual Sizzlin’ Country concerts twice, sang on the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, performed a song for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and helped bring awareness to Kaboom!, an agency that builds playgrounds for children in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Her tireless efforts were recognized by Family Circle magazine, which cited her in its "Women Who Make A Difference" issue. In addition, Cochran appeared in such media as The CBS Early Show, CNN, Parade magazine, Politically Incorrect and the TV Guide Channel. Her videos continue to rack up heavy play on both country cable channels, CMT and Great American Country. And she was selected to perform at the 27th annual American Women In Radio and Television Gracie Allen Awards, recognizing exemplary programming that addresses the concerns of women. If that’s not enough, along with her five ACM nominations, she took home trophies from the Billboard Video Music Awards and the CCMA Awards.Early returns on the title track from Life Happened indicate she is only moving forward. "I’m speechless and in complete awe," wrote Robert K. Oermann, in the influential Music Row magazine."Life Happened" typifies the album’s quality. Brimming with visual imagery, it chronicles the broken dreams of everyday people, who find beauty in a routines that fall short of their original plans. Cochran performs it flawlessly, using dynamics to emphasize the song’s inherent drama. In the process, she instinctively manages to call attention to the song without making herself the focal point."The audience is so smart," she observes. "They pick up on the littlest things. I always feel that a singer has to be an actress for three-and-a-half minutes, and unless you are just some wonderful, award-winning, Oscar-quality actress, you’re not gonna pull it off. They’re gonna know. So I always try to find songs that I can relate to now, or have gone through, which I think makes it a lot more believable, because it’s something that I feel when I’m actually singing it in the studio."Her dedication to the material actually dragged out the process of making the album. Working with producer Billy Joe Walker Jr. (Travis Tritt, Pam Tillis) for the first time, they hit a wall after recording the first five songs, and went through several discouraging months searching for the right pieces. As it turned out, Cochran was already holding several of those songs. Although co-writing "Angels In Waiting" helped gain one of her five ACM nods, she remains modest about her own songwriting. When she played several songs for Walker, she avoided telling him she had created them. He quickly tabbed four of them for inclusion on the album. "Go Slow" uses a sultry setting to convey emotional connection, "I Used To Be That Woman" ably plums the heartbreak of deception, "Dead Of The Night" has a dark, mysterious quality, and "All In How You Look At Things" is rewardingly upbeat. Her songwriting was, perhaps, the final key in unlocking Cochran as an artist. She had never taken the craft seriously until the final year before she signed her recording deal with Epic Records. Unfailingly gregarious, she had to dig deeper through the introspection of writing, and the process "made me more complete," she says."I can say things in a song to someone that I can’t look them in the face and say. It definitely is a therapy for me, and it’s made me get in touch with my feelings a lot more. I was always the clown, and the one who was always havin’ fun and laughin’, but when it came to the serious things, I was like, ‘If you don’t think about ‘em, maybe they’ll go away.’ So songwriting made me grow up a little." In geographical reality, Cochran grew up in Austinburg, Ohio, a small town near the Pennsylvania border that feels the effects of the chilly winter winds off Lake Erie. Her father—now retired—was a heavy equipment operator, and her mother worked as a private investigator, where the lessons of her job helped Tammy even in her younger years to balance dreams and reality."My mom is very skeptical, but in a good way," Tammy reflects. "She used to always give me this advice—when you meet someone, her idea is you trust ‘em until they give you a reason not to, but only trust ‘em slowly. It’s kind of like, trust ‘em with a little bit of information. If they don’t blow it, you can trust them a little more."While classmates were attracted to the glamour of Madonna and the decadence of Motley Crue, Cochran was magnetized by the more grounded stories conveyed by singers such as Tammy Wynette, Ray Price and Charlie Rich."There’s something in their voices, and I don’t think too many people have it," she says. "They were so real. Vern Gosdin was the same way. When he sings ‘Chiseled In Stone,’ you want to cry, even if you have no way to relate to it. There’s a heartbreak in their voices."(Ironically, all of her favorite singers—Wynette, Price, Rich, Gosdin and Barbara Mandrell—recorded for Epic Records, which eventually signed Cochran, or for Epic’s sister label, Columbia). After she won the first talent contest she entered, at age 12, Cochran committed herself to music. When he parents had her select her present for her 16th birthday, she picked sound equipment over a car of her own. And when she was confronted with the choice of going to college or to Nashville, she chose Music City.In an unusual show of commitment to their daughter, Delmar and Mabel moved with Tammy in 1991. They also displayed an unusual wisdom. Instead of jumping blindly into Nashville’s music game, they studied the topic slowly and diligently."When we first came here, we didn’t do much for the first year-and-a-half," Tammy explains. "We kind of read books, got to know what the whole deal was about, ‘cause there’s a lot more to having a record deal than singing. There’s a lot of other stuff involved, and so we took it really, really slow."She faced the usual rejections, including a particularly painful one in which an executive told her, point blank, "I wouldn’t call you if you were the last singer in town." A blow to the ego, but one that did not stop her.She also married briefly—an experience that challenged her commitment to music and sharpened her self-reliance. "No matter what avenue you choose in your life, you’re gonna come up against brick walls," she says. "You’re gonna wanna turn around, and you’re gonna wanna run. I just wouldn’t give up."It was in the aftermath of her divorce that she intensified her focus on songwriting. Not so ironically, she earned her first songwriting contract and her Sony recording deal shortly thereafter. And it was her songwriting that led eventually to "Angels In Waiting," and helped solidify the new album. But Cochran is not looking backward at the awards nominations, or the "torchbearer" acclaim. She’s already writing for her third album, and making plans to eventually co-produce her music. In much the same way that she took a slow approach to learning the ropes in Nashville, she’s taking a long view of her career, laying the groundwork in a manner that should keep her in the forefront for years to come. And the groundwork is quite simple. She’s combined an intense determination, an expressive vocal quality, and a keen sense of meaningful songs. She presents an impressive array of talents, but does so in a way that sends a relatable message: Tammy Cochran is ably converting a long-held dream into a hard-fought reality."

TAMMY COCHRAN
"LIFE HAPPENED" CUT BY CUT

"Love Won't Let Me" (Jason Deere, Franne Golde, Kasey Livingston):
"When I first heard the demo of 'Love Won't Let Me,' I looked at Billy Joe like he was crazy, 'cause it was such a pop demo. It was a great demo, but it was a pop demo, and I said, 'You know I sing country, right?' And he said, 'Trust me, trust me, trust me.' We went in, and did a guitar/vocal version to find keys and think about arrangements, and that's when I realized that it was country. "But I think the reason I really, really like that song is because when you are in a new relationship, and you've been hurt, the last thing you wanna do is jump right back into another one. But when you meet someone that makes you feel this way, you can't not go. You can't not try."

"WANTED" (Al Anderson, Sharon Vaughn):
"Wanted is a prime example of wanting to be with someone who wants you for who you are, and not who they think you should be. It seems like in my personal experience-but also watching friends and people that I know-they're in a relationship and everything is marvelous, but slowly, the woman's trying to make the man something he's not, or vice versa. Really, everybody wants to be wanted for just who they are. They don't wanna have to change to make somebody happy, and that's why I like that song."Plus, I love the rhyme scheme. Not many people can take a phrase like 'ulterior motive' and use it in a song and actually make it work. That's why I never read the lyric sheet before I listen to the song."
"GO SLOW" (Tammy Cochran):
"We call it 'The Cigarette Song,' for obvious reasons. "When you first fall in love, you have all these emotions in your mind, in your heart, and you don't know how to express them, because there's never one word that's strong enough to tell somebody how much you love them. I guess I tried to do it with this song."To me, the song is more about the emotional side of love than it is the physical side of love. It just ended up sounding like it's about the physical side. But I was trying to put my heart in my pen, and that's how it came out."
"WHAT KIND OF WOMAN WOULD I BE" (Kerry Kurt Phillips, Angela Hurt):
"This song I chose, not only because it's a well-written song, but I kinda related to it personally, with my divorce. Being in a relationship where somebody constantly tells you that you're not good enough, it makes you start to doubt who you are, and you never realize how strong you are until you have to be. I mean, I never thought that I could support myself and own a home and rely only upon myself for my daily needs. But when you have to do it, you do it.""WHITE LIES AND PICKET FENCES" (Jess Brown, Tony Lane, Tammy Powell):
"I just love the way this song is written. I think we all have been let down, and probably been in love with someone who promised us forever, and then decided, 'No, I think not.' That's just as much a part of music as the happy stuff, and I think it's just real."

"I'M GETTING THERE" (Adrienne Follese, Billy Crain):
"It goes right to the process. We gotta heal. That's kinda where I was goin' there. After every heartbreak, there's a period of healing, although sometimes it takes longer than others. You eventually get there, if you allow yourself.

"And there's a line in it-'There's more to life, not less'-I love that line. It kind of brought the whole song together."
"LIFE HAPPENED" (Patrick Jason Matthews, Kerry Kurt Phillips):
"We were cuttin' in the studio, and we had all our songs chosen, but when that song came along, we just immediately said, 'Something's gotta go so we can make room for this song,' 'cause it's so incredible. It reminds me of everybody that I know."When I was in the studio singing this song, I had my eyes closed, and I could see the people that I went to school with that were these people. I've been to a class reunion. I had a wonderful time, but the people that you thought were gonna change the world maybe didn't do everything that they thought they were gonna do, or you thought they were gonna do, but they're very happy with their lives anyway, and it's just a reminder that everything happens for a reason.""I USED TO BE THAT WOMAN" (Tammy Cochran):
"That song was inspired when a friend of mine, and myself, went to a writers night at The Bluebird Café in Nashville. Sometimes you know the people at your table, and sometimes you don't. There were about six writers in the round that night, and there were two ladies sitting next to us that we didn't know. "You can't talk loud, and I hear this lady next to me whisper to the girl who's across the table from her. She says, 'That's him right there, in the plaid shirt.' She was referring to one of the writers. I'm sittin' right there, so, of course, I look. Then she whispers, 'That girl there, that's his girlfriend. That girl over there with the two kids-that's his wife.'"Because I was married to someone who was not faithful, I looked at that wife, and I just kinda went, 'Oh, my God, this probably happened to me. I probably was in the same room and didn't even know it. I used to be her.' "A week or so later, I was on the road in a hotel room, and I started thinkin' about it. It was so weird, but I knew there was somethin' there, and started writin' the song on one of those little, 2x3 notepads they give you.""DEAD OF THE NIGHT" (Tammy Cochran, Patricia Gray):
"Honestly, this song doesn't really relate to the theme, but there's gotta be a good controversial song in every country album! "I am not an accomplished guitar player-not at all-but I learned a new chord, and every time I learn a new chord, I have to write a song with the chord in it. It inspires me somehow. So I was actually sittin' on my bed, practicing my new chord, and I came up with this melody. It was so haunting, and the song really needed to be a very, very dark, mysterious kinda thing. So I came up with the title, 'The Dead Of The Night.'"I'm a big fan of Lifetime TV, and you have a lot of real-life stories on Lifetime. They aired one about an abusive marriage, and the child was always trying to take up for the mom, and it got me going, so I called Patricia Gray, and told her the story. I said, 'Listen, What do you think?' It was about 10:00 at night, and she was like, 'Are you OK? Do you need to talk? Is something wrong?' Now we laugh about it. She reflects back to that and says, 'I was so worried about you.' I'm callin' her at 10:00 goin', 'Listen to this! It's about killin' somebody, with this really weird chord in it.'"We wrote it about six weeks later, after we'd had a real good laugh about my whacko idea. We figured it would never get cut, but we thought it was cool.""ALL IN HOW YOU LOOK AT THINGS" (Tammy Cochran, Patricia Gray):
"That was the first song that Patricia and I wrote. She brought the idea, with the title, and she had the same idea I had about how things that are devastating to you at one time, when you look back on them, you realize that you had to go through that bad part to get to the good stuff, to get to where you are. I thought it was a great way to give a little bit of hope to the future to come, even if what life has brought you so far isn't quite what you thought it would be.""IF YOU CAN" (Joy Swinea):
"'If You Can' was the first single that I ever released, and I absolutely love the song. It did well for a first single, but I think there are a lot of country fans who may not be familiar with the song. It's the song that got me started, and I really wanted more people to have the opportunity to hear it, so we made it a bonus track on the new album."

TAMMY COCHRAN REQUESTED FOR RETURN PERFORMANCE ON
2002 JERRY LEWIS MDA TELETHON ON SEPTEMBER 2ND

COCHRAN WILL PERFORM HER CURRENT HIT ‘LIFE HAPPENED’
THE TITLE TRACK FROM HER NEW CD DUE THIS FALL

Last year, charity-minded new country artist Tammy Cochran offered to perform her heart-wrenching ballad "Angel In Waiting" on the one of the biggest charity telethons in the world. After her performance on that and other shows, numerous industry awards, nominations, and other accolades for her debut album, the 2002 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon has requested a return performance. Cochran was one of the first artists invited to perform on this year's show. She will sing her latest hit, the appropriately titled "Life Happened" on the broadcast Monday, September 2, 2002, reaching 80 million viewers from the CBS Television Studios in Los Angeles, CA. Tammy Cochran is no stranger to life-threatening diseases. She lost both of her young brothers to Cystic Fibrosis and contributes tirelessly to help raise money and awareness for such causes. Then in the fall, Epic Records Nashville will release Life Happened, Cochran’s highly anticipated new album. In a case of deja vu, the title track is being heaped with praise and radio airplay and is currently climbing the charts. The music video is already attracting significant rotation on country music channels such as CMT: Country Music Television and GAC: Great American Country.

TAMMY COCHRAN BEGINS PRODUCTION ON MUSIC VIDEO "LIFE HAPPENED" FIRST SINGLE FROM UPCOMING SOPHOMORE ALBUM

Tammy Cochran has been spending the last two days in Nashville filming the music video for "Life Happened," the first single from her soon-to-be-released album. The tune’s lyric deal with how one’s life doesn’t always turn out the way we plan it, but we end up where we’re supposed to be. In an attempt to capture "Small-town USA," the video will take the viewer to locations such as a middle school, a bar called "The Phase," a diner called the Long Water Café, "Dad’s Auto," a used car lot and a video rental store. In fact, Cochran’s parents, Mabel and Delmar, were used as extras in the video shoot. They appeared as shoppers looking for video rentals. Cochran’s next album from Epic Records/Nashville is due fall 2002. The CD is the follow-up to her acclaimed self-titled debut album, which featured the award winning song "Angels in Waiting."

TAMMY COCHRAN SURPRISED TO RECIVE "ANGELS IN WAITING" CUSTOM GIBSON GUITAR ON STAGE AT SIZZLIN’ COUNTRY EVENT

IDENTICAL GUITAR AUCTIONED ON EBAY RAISES $10,000.00 FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION

Tammy Cochran, the rising country star who works tirelessly to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, was totally surprised during her set last week in Los Angeles at the Sizzlin’ Country benefit event on the Warner Bros. Studios Western back-lot. Between songs, Sheri Mount, Co-Chairman of Sizzlin’ Country along with Co-Chair Sue Mount, Dave Mount, Jr. and Laura Heatherly, Director of Special Projects for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation presented Cochran with a custom "Angels In Waiting" Gibson Les Paul Guitar. The guitar, generously donated by Henry Juszkiewicz of Gibson Guitar Corp., is painted with two angels that represent Cochran’s brothers Alan and Shawn who both lost their lives at young ages to Cystic Fibrosis. The guitar’s fret-board has "Angels In Waiting" inlaid with mother of pearl. A plaque on the back of the guitar states, "This Gibson guitar was specially created in memory of Alan and Shawn Cochran, brothers of Epic recording artist Tammy Cochran who co-wrote the song "Angels In Waiting." Cochran wrote the song and dedicates her career to the memory of her brothers and to aid in finding the cure and advancing the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis. An identical "Angels In Waiting" Gibson guitar was recently auctioned on Ebay for $10,000.00 with the money going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Sizzlin’ Country raised more than $500,000 for cystic fibrosis care and treatment programs.
THIS JUST IN: Tammy Cochran has been invited to perform on the Saturday CBS Early Show, and will appear this Saturday, May 18th. TAMMY COCHRAN RECORDS ‘RUN ON FOREVER’
FOR UNITED AUTO WORKERS-GENERAL MOTORS’ ‘MAKE A WISH’ MUSIC VIDEO
HIGHLIGHTING 12 YEAR OLD KENTUCKY GIRL & THE GIFT OF A SPECIAL HORSE

SONG PENNED BY CHRIS BENJEY AND VIDEO TO RAISE AWARENESS & MONEY
BY UAW-GM FOR ‘MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION’

Tammy Cochran, who knows what it’s like to lose loved ones to illness, jumped at the chance to record "Run On Forever," for a special music video sponsored by the United Auto Workers- General Motors Human Resources in partnership with the Make A Wish Foundation. The song, written by Ann Arbor, Michigan composer Chris Benjey, will be used as the centerpiece in a music video about Morgan, a 12 year-old Lexington, Kentucky girl who has battled liver disease all her life. The music video, featuring Cochran’s heartfelt rendition of Benjey’s song, will be used by UAW-GM Center for Human Resources to create awareness and raise money for the Kentucky Chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation. Since Morgan was raised in the horse capital world, and even named after The Morgan, a gentle breed of horse described to possess great spirit and courage, she loves horses and her "wish" was for riding lessons, a luxury her parents could not afford. Recently at the Grand Opening of the Make A Wish Foundation’s Kentucky Chapter, a ribbon strung between two new Corvettes provided by GM’s nearby Bowling Green Assembly plant, was cut and a GMC Suburban pulled a trailer, and unloaded Sampson, Morgan’s new horse. The horse was a bonus to go with Morgan’s riding lessons. Says Tammy Cochran, "’Run on Forever’ is unique because it’s a song about love, not between a man and a woman, but between a special girl and a special horse. Anything I can do, to use my voice to assist in such a worthy cause, so they can keep granting these magical wishes... and I will be there."

TAMMY COCHRAN GETS BLAKE SHELTON TO SHOW SOME SKIN

Recently Tammy Cochran was performing in the Cayman Islands with fellow rising country music star Blake Shelton and helped him get a little more exposure than expected. While at a music industry event at the beach resort there, she hung out with the other artists participating including Shelton. Explains Tammy, "I got Blake Shelton into a kayak. He was walking along the beach in his jeans, his cowboy hat, and his boots. I told him, ‘Blake, you’re on the beach. Take off your boots and hat, it’s like 90 degrees! It’s OK if your legs are all white!’ So I got him in the kayak and we dumped him in the ocean before we were through." Cochran, Shelton and other country music stars were participating in the Great American Country (G.A.C.) Beach Olympics. Music fans who won trips were also on hand to participate with the artists in various events such as beach volleyball, kayaking, etc. "Actually, the coolest event," explains Cochran, "is when we released some rescued sea turtles back into the ocean. Besides having a fun time with the fans and other singers, seeing these endangered turtles returning to their home in the wild was a very meaningful moment for me." "I Cry," Tammy Cochran’s current single is rising on the country singles charts and is the follow-up to her big recent hit "Angels In Waiting," from her self-titled album on Epic Records. She also has a song, "I Believe," on the album "Music From and Inspired By WE WERE SOLDIERS," the film starring Mel Gibson, in stores February 26th.

I BELIEVE MEL GIBSON IS LOOKING MIGHTY FINE’ SAYS TAMMY COCHRAN

HER SONG ‘I BELIEVE’ INCLUDED IN ‘MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY WE WERE SOLDIERS’ ALBUM FROM MEL GIBSON FILM IN STORES FEBRUARY 26

Not only does country star Tammy Cochran have a song, "I Believe," on the album "Music From and Inspired By WE WERE SOLDIERS," the film starring Mel Gibson, she also has a few things to say about the movie star, his new film and the star-studded CD. Tammy has already seen the movie and offered her own review; "The movie was very good. It’s a war movie. But from a woman’s point of view I respected the way it depicted beyond the horror of the battlefield… the hardship and the toll the Vietnam War also inflicted on the loved ones and families left behind. In any event, it’s an excellent film," she adds. "And not-to-mention Mel Gibson is looking mighty fine these days." Other artists participating in the multi-genre album "Music From and Inspired By WE WERE SOLDIERS" are Johnny Cash & Dave Matthews, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Train, Steven Curtis Chapman, India.Arie, Five For Fighting, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jars of Clay, Jamie O’Neal & Michael McDonald, Montgomery Gentry, Rascal Flatts, Joseph Kilna MacKenzie and United States Military Academy Glee Club and Metro Voices. Cochran is equally excited about the album. "How cool is this?" she asks. "To be in the company of such a wide array of artists, many of whom are truly stars in their own musical genres. This should be one of those CDs that takes on a life of it own and becomes a classic. As well as a nice souvenir from a remarkable movie." TAMMY COCHRAN REACTS TO TERRORIST TRAGEDIES

"I'm deeply saddened by these horrible tragedies. My heart goes out to those who have a loved one affected by these cowardly and senseless acts. Our lives will truly never be the same. Having to battle the natural disasters and misfortune that life throws at us is tough enough without our fellow human beings inflicting death and pain upon each other. It's so important to take time out to let those you appreciate know how much you care."

COUNTRY MUSIC NEWCOMER TAMMY COCHRAN PULLS A HAT TRICK WITH TWO CCMA AND A BILLBOARD VIDEO AWARD NOMINATION FOR "ANGELS IN WAITING" FROM SELF-TITLED EPIC DEBUT *** Cochran to perform the hit at the First Annual All Star Music Bash for Cystic Fibrosis, Oct. 1, at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville

There's a rainbow at the end of Tammy Cochran's long, tough road to country music. Not that her journey's winding down. Far from it. With a country music career and a self-titled Epic Nashville debut that's been eight years coming, Cochran is just getting started. It seems "Angels in Waiting," her third single from Tammy Cochran (following up "So What" and "If You Can"), has sprouted a major pair of wings. The song, which Cochran co-wrote, is a CCMA (Christian Country Music Association) nominee in the Video of the Year category, and is up for two Billboard Music Video awards, as well – Best Country New Artist Clip of the Year and Best Contemporary Christian New Artist Clip of the Year.Cochran not only put pen to paper to compose the exquisite "Angels in Waiting" for her older brothers Shawn and Alan, both whom she lost to cystic fibrosis, but she conceived and co-directed the video, too. Cochran incorporated home movie footage of the two boys into the clip, giving it a sense of realness, significance and intimacy rarely found in the slick, special effects-loaded productions that are standard operating procedure. As a result, "Angels in Waiting" is an absolute standout. However, Cochran concedes surprise at the hat trick of nominations, especially the nod from the CCMA."I'm kind of shocked, but I'm very happy, because I never considered this song a Christian song. But I guess it is," she says, sounding thrilled. "It is positive, and it is referring to my brothers in heaven, and is very heavenly. I am just so excited, because the one thing I want is for people to always remember my brothers. And I think the video does that."Honoring them with a nomination – I don't really consider this a nomination for me, because it is for the video, so I think my brothers had just as much to do with this song as I did."As for the pair of Billboard Music Video Awards – symbolic nominations for Shawn, who died in 1980, at age 14, and Alan, who died in 1991, when he was 23 – Cochran says, "This is a way for them to live forever. It gives them immortality in my mind. They're stars now, in their own right. I'm glad that everyone gets to know them."Cochran has a whirlwind month ahead of her. It begins with a performance of the Top 10 hit at the First Annual All Star Music Bash for Cystic Fibrosis on Oct. 1, at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, hosted by Richard Marx, and culminates with the Nov. 1 PAX-TV broadcast of the CCMA Awards."CF is something that really is close to my family, so we've always been huge supporters, constantly doing fundraisers of our own when we lived in Ohio," Cochran comments on her participation in the benefit to find a cure for the incurable lung disease. "I'm really happy to be a part of this, because not only does the song bring awareness to CF, but this will help raise funds and hopefully we can find a cure."For Cochran, "Angels in Waiting" are leading the search. The vocalist, who was 10 when she lost Shawn, and 21 when she lost Alan, says the two had a profound influence on her life, whether it was recording demos in a Nashville studio after working the early shift at McDonald's, or struggling to triumph over personal tribulations.

"Growing up with two brothers who are sick, you realize that no matter how much they try and how much they want to, they're not going to live as much as you. When I turned 23, I felt kind of guilty," she reveals, "because I had outlived my brothers, who were older than me. But they taught me that you cannot take anything for granted in life. Your family is more important than any material item you can buy. There are always people who try to keep up with the Joneses, and that's fine, well and good, but the bottom line is: it's your family and it's who you love."

And it's this perspective that makes Cochran a true winner.
