Renowned Sin City Chanteuse and Former Luis Miguel Backing Vocalist, Who Has Sung Duets at Her Longtime Bellagio Gig with Bono & R. Kelly Is Set To Release Self-Titled Indie Debut on Strip City Records March 7
* * *
As Billboard Raves, "It is Time For The Rest Of The Nation To Hear Her, Too!", Diaz Is Set To Host a Media Record Release Party in Detroit on March 4 and Perform In-Stores at Borders in Henderson, NV, and at f.y.e locations in Houston and El Paso, TX. Other performances include, Ft. Lewis Army Base and
the National anthem at the Vargas vs. Mosley Fight.

With all the critical acclaim and widespread media buzz surrounding Vegas based chanteuse Dian Diaz , it's hard to believe we're still a few weeks away from the March 7 release of her self-titled debut album.

Call "Colour Everywhere," the ubiquitous first single from the "singer's singer" ( Billboard Magazine's words) a joyful teaser, a sizzling appetizer for the main course. After four weeks on Billboard' s Adult Contemporary Top 40 Chart, the track-a soaring pop ballad which has earned Diaz comparisons to Whitney Houston (on www.Indie-Music.com), Martina McBride, Toni Braxton, even Christina Aguilera -is at #30 and rising.

That's incredible news for an upstart indie label (Strip City Records distributed by BDG/RED), especially considering the lofty company surrounding her on the chart: legends like Rod Stewart and Diana Ross, Barry Manilow and Santana, younger pop icons Michael Buble, Rob Thomas, Train, Green Day, Nickelback, Gwen Stefani, American Idol champs Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and, oh yes, Vegas' "other" diva, Celine Dion, performing with Il Divo on "I Believe In You (Je Crois En Toi)."

On February 21, Billboard critic Chuck Taylor explained Diaz's success in his glowing review of "Colour Everywhere": "Dian Diaz is the kind of vocalist that major labels do not often sign anymore-and what a tragedy. In other words, without samples, deceptive layers of clouded vocal production or a bevy of unwelcome guest artists, Diaz lets her singing-and beautiful, melodic, fully produced compositions-hold court. 'Colour Everywhere' makes an accomplished bid for traditional AC play, as Diaz sings, scats, soars and gloriously shakes a rafter or two. She has already sung background vocals for Luis Miguel and is now performing nightly at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. It is time for the rest of the nation to hear her, too."

Diaz has also scored recent writeups and/or glowing reviews in the L.A. Times Calendar section; in Soulshine , "Canada's Essential Guide To Good Music," which begins with "Wow, what a big voice, at times it seems like she) can hit every note that she wants and that is not a bad thing"; and on Indie-Music.com, which comments on her "well trained voice" and adds, "with the right material she might just go on to be the next big diva. her Latin heritage and sound sets her apart from many of the other top divas today".

In addition, Coffehousetour.com mentions her "strong voice that exhibits a rich flow from song to song," and Musical Discoveries calls every track on the new album "a must listen."

During her time as one of Las Vegas' premier, must see club attractions, Diaz has endeared herself to numerous pop legends who have been literally blown away by her riveting performances with her 8-piece band. Everyone from R. Kelly to Bono has come up onstage to sing duets. Another of her fans is her longtime idol Whitney Houston, who once came to check her out three nights in a row! At the big premiere party for the film Ocean's Eleven, Andy Garcia got up and played congas. Another time, Diaz discovered that Beyonce was in the club, watching so she performed a cover of "Crazy In Love" and got the backup dancers in the singer's entourage to break into the choreography.

With all the star magnetism, it's no surprise that Diaz was able to attract huge behind the scenes talent to work with her on her debut. Contributing songwriters include multiple Grammy award winner Narada Michael Walden (whose credits include Houston, Diaz's other vocal idol Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin) and DJ Jazzy Jeff's Crew out of Philadelphia, who have worked with Jeff's former partner Will Smith and Jill Scott, among others. Dian Diaz's main producer is Rodney Alejandro, whose credits include the theme song for Fox's "The Shield" and the theme song for CBS' "Now and Again"; he has also worked with The Temptations and Olga Tanon.

Las Vegas Weekly recently reviewed Diaz's CD, “The chanteuse of Bellagio's Fontana Room debuts with a remarkably produced adult-contemporary album. Diaz's solid, passionate voice mixes a Latin flavor into R&B and pop, and the singer-songwriter's result is a disc that could easily take it's place alongside Celine DIon or Gloria Estefan.”

What Happens In Vegas…Popular Chanteuse DIAN DIAZ Reveals The Joys, Temptations And Secrets Of Staying Fit, Beautiful And Cool In The 24-Hour World Of Sin City

The Acclaimed Singer, A Top Attraction At The Bellagio Who Has Shared Stages With Bono, R. Kelly And Luis Miguel, Is Releasing A New Holiday Single To AC Radio In Anticipation Of Her Self-Titled Debut, Due In March, 2006

Dian Diaz may have to travel a good hour from her Summerlin, Nevada home to experience snow at her favorite ski lodge near Mt. Charleston, but that won't keep the popular singer—a mainstay on the famed Las Vegas Strip since she began headlining The Bellagio's prestigious Fontana room in 1998--from having a merry Christmas in the desert this year.

By the time Jolly Old St. Nick arrives, her single “On Christmas Eve,” being released to radio nationwide on November 28, will no doubt be one of the holiday season's most treasured (not to mention requested) new original songs. She is putting this out on the heels of her debut AC hit single, “Colour Everywhere,” which hit #11 on the FMQB chart, and in anticipation of the March, 2006 release of her self-titled debut.

Contributing songwriters to her first album include multiple Grammy award winner Narada Michael Walden (whose credits include Houston, Diaz's other vocal idol Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin) and DJ Jazzy Jeff's Crew out of Philadelphia, who have worked with Jeff's former partner Will Smith and Jill Scott, among others.

Diaz sometimes likes to joke that her favorite part of living in Vegas is the free valet parking, but her hectic, late hours performance schedule makes her grateful for the ongoing 24 hour hustle and bustle of her adopted hometown. She loves the fact that there's always something to do…great restaurants, great places to hang with friends after dinner, wonderful free lounge shows and movie theatres whose last showings are at 1 a.m. Diaz has two nights off a week, and she and her husband and business partner Alex Norbert are committed to making those evenings “date nights,” where they eat fine meals and indulge in their passion for movies (usually at their favorite theatre at The Palms).

During the heat of summer, when she's not visiting the library to check out romance and horror novels and show biz biographies or hanging out at home with her cats Faith, Baby Girl and Baby Boy, she and Alex sometimes join friends for a boat ride at nearby Lake Mead. On occasion, they'll get up early, hop on his motorcycle and cruise out to the beautiful local Red Rock Mountains or what locals call the “Valley of Fire.”

Headlining five nights a week, she goes from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Sundays and Mondays, and 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays. That's a lot of late nights to be, as she says, “having fun and dancing till everyone drops.”

Not that Diaz is complaining.

She's grateful that Vegas' round the clock pace extends to her gym, 24 hour Fitness, where she can sometimes be found working out after a different kind of workout onstage. “Being such an active performer onstage, I really have to keep in shape, and so I'm fanatical about working out three or four times a week,” Diaz says. “It's very convenient for me to pop into the gym after work. I had a trainer when I first joined, and I was heavily into Pilates because it's important for me to strengthen and tone my muscles. These days, I'm committed to this cool circuit training, where I keep a tight schedule doing a full body workout for a half hour or 45 minutes. Working on a series of machines, I focus on my abs, legs, back and arms.

“After the cycle,” she says without a hint of exhaustion, “I do two minutes of aerobics on a bike before doing the circuit again. Aerobics are crucial to keeping my stamina high, and I have an exercise bike at home. It's easy for a singer who is as active onstage as I am to run out of breath during a song, so often I'll run in place and sing at my show volume level as my heart rate increases. I also do that on the bike. It's kind of like multi-tasking because often that's when I work on original material that I'm going to incorporate into the set. Yes, it's painful sometimes, but the reward is feeling great afterwards, having more than enough energy to do my job and an overall better quality of life. The entertainment business is competitive, and you have to be on top of your game, physically and mentally at all times.”

The physical parts of Diaz's “top of her game” regimen extend, of course, to a healthy diet, skin care (Vegas is an ultra-dry desert climate, after all), hair styling and makeup. In a city where the cheap buffet is king and eating happens round the clock, she's tried every diet in the book to keep off unwanted pounds, but ultimately realized that if she ate in moderation and exercised enough, she could maintain a healthy weight. Resisting temptation beyond what should be humanly possible, Diaz's diet includes a lot of whole grains, protein supplements (she's not a big meat eater), salads, nuts, raisins, fruit, veggies and light, whole grain pastas.

How to take care of skin in a place where the humidity is low and (at least in the summer) the sun scorches the earth at up to 115 degrees? Hot baths, for one…which she calls her greatest pampering tool. “I use major sunblock, drink about two quarts of water a day, and use a wide variety of moisturizers and special skin care products,” she says. “Obaji has incredible items, cleansers, moisturizers and skin ceuticals. I also use Jurlique moisturizers, and kinerase (Retin –A) helps with skin tone, getting rid of wrinkles and improving the clarity of my skin.”

Diaz's haircare regimen is pretty simple: she likes Pantene Pro V shampoo and conditioner, and uses the anti-frizz product Straight Sexy Hair, which has a smooth in seal. She wears her hair straight with a kind of wave, and uses another product, Alterna Hemp Spray Shine, to keep it lush and (to her delight) smelling like oranges! Visiting hairdresser Philip Stewart (who works out of the MGM and also at the Hypnotic Salon) every four to six weeks, she adds caramel highlights to her natural ash brown hair.

Although she's always worn some great make up products designed to endure under the bright lights, Diaz has learned a lot from make up artists at photo sessions for her upcoming album. “The most beneficial tip I received was using a brush to put on concealer when dealing with undereye problems,” she says. “Laura Mercier has a product called Secret Concealer. As far as foundations go, I'm not committed to any one thing. I'll use Lancome photogenic Ultra Comfort or different Revlon products. The one thing I stay true to is powder over the makeup. I like to use Professional Secrets, a light touch ultra lucent face powder which gives my face a soft light golden quality.”

Diaz, who hails from very humble beginnings in Albuquerque, is clearly enamored by the glitz of Vegas while preferring to keep her own life simple and down home as much as she can. “Although Alex and I run our business from home and are essentially homebodies, I'm always asked by people visiting Vegas for the first time what they should do to create an incredible experience,” she says. “Not just because I perform there, but I really believe that the Bellagio is the nicest hotel/resort to see, and for live entertainment, everyone should see the production show ‘O'. The best way to do the Strip is to rent a convertible and experience the lights, the sights and incredible sounds. There's a reason why it's one of America's top tourist destinations. I really love it here.”

Debut Single "Colour Everywhere" is #2 Most Added for a Second Week On the FMQB AC Chart Along with Such Pop and Rockstars as Eric Clapton, Simply Red, Jon Secada and Kelly Clarkson

Las Vegas based singer-songwriter Dian Diaz is having another great week. But the victims of Hurricane Katrina are not. Besides singing, another one of Diaz's passions is her love for animals. Like most Americans, television viewers have been horrified at the images and the suffering of Hurricane Katrina's victims, and now their pets. Which is why she is calling upon her fans as well as animal lovers throughout the US to support the rescue efforts of the Humane Society of the United States.

“During these difficult times, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of Hurricane Katrina,” says Diaz.  “A new reality that has also struck me was a news report that evacuees in the stricken areas were forced to leave their pets behind to fend for themselves. I cannot begin to express the profound feeling of sadness that came with the thought that these victims, some elderly and some children, had to abandon their best friends and companions in an environment that has only one end result.

“While looking into the matter, I have learned that the Humane Society has volunteers on location doing their very best to rescue these innocent loving animals. They are also trying to set up temporary shelters, provide medical attention and are helping to reunite them with their caring families. I am asking everyone to please consider making a donation to support their efforts during these very difficult times,” said Diaz, who also posted this statement at www.diandiaz.com

“Colour Everywhere” the first single from Diaz's soon-to-be released self-titled CD is #2 “most added” on the FMQB AC chart for a second week joining other pop and rock notables as Eric Clapton, Simply Red, Jon Secada and Kelly Clarkson. “It's an incredible feeling knowing that people are responding to my music plus I'm flattered by being in the company of such major artists,” according to Diaz.

FMQB recently reviewed Diaz's debut single, “ She's been one of the premier acts in Las Vegas and now Dian Diaz is ready to break wide open. ‘Colour Everywhere,' the first single from her self-titled CD, showcases one of the truly best new vocalists to come out in quite a while. Get on board early, so you can say you were there from day one.”

Diaz has been headlining at The Bellagio's prestigious Fontana Room since 1998. With her own band, she opened for such music notables as The Commodores, Spyro Gyra and Richard Elliot. Diaz previously spent two years touring as a backup singer for Latin superstar Luis Miguel.

“Colour Everywhere” Impacts at

AC Mainstream Radio on August 29

The clever marketing line about Sin City goes, “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas,” but Dian Diaz —a sensation on The Strip since she began headlining The Bellagio's prestigious Fontana Room in 1998—has too much talent, ambition and vision to remain a local legend for long. On August 29, the critically acclaimed vocalist's soaring ballad “Colour Everywhere,” from her highly anticipated self-titled debut,

is hitting AC mainstream stations nationwide. The inspirational song perfectly reflects all of the passion and energy that Diaz has put into a project whose powerful blend of Pop and Latin influences are destined to set new trends in pop music.

During her time as one of Las Vegas' premier, must see club attractions, Diaz has endeared herself to numerous pop legends who have been literally blown away by her riveting performances with her 8-piece band. Everyone from R. Kelly to Bono has come up onstage to sing with her. Another of her fans is her longtime idol Whitney Houston, who once came to check her out three nights in a row! At the big party for the film Ocean's Eleven, Andy Garcia got up and played congas.

With all the star magnetism, it's no surprise that Diaz was able to attract huge behind the scenes talent to work with her on her debut. Contributing songwriters include multiple Grammy award winner Narada Michael Walden (whose credits include Houston, Diaz's other vocal idol Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin), Guy Roche, (Celine, Cher and Christina Aguilera) and DJ Jazzy Jeff's Crew out of Philadelphia, who have worked with Jeff's former partner Will Smith and Jill Scott, among others. Dian Diaz's other producer is Rodney Alejandro, whose credits include the theme song for Fox's “The Shield” and the theme song for CBS' “Now and Again”; he has also worked with The Temptations and Olga Tañon.

Frustrated with the hot and cold, hurry up and wait responses and all the false starts from major labels, Diaz and her husband Alex Norbert took matters into their own hands, building an elaborate home studio (dubbed Strip City Studios) and financing the recording themselves. Dian Diaz, which will be released under the label Strip City Records, has a nationwide distribution deal with BDG/RED/Sony; Strip City is the only indie label in Vegas that currently has major label distribution.

Diaz and Norbert are managing partners of the very successful DNA Music Enterprises, a production management company that supplies musical entertainment for live performance venues at such resorts as The Bellagio, The Mirage and Monte Carlo . They conceptualize, create and customize acts from scratch, hiring musicians from all around the country to perform 48 weeks a year. Once on board, the musicians undergo an intensive five week “boot camp'; genres range from symphonic rock to classic rock and variety shows.

Though many industry insiders who have heard Diaz's towering voice have predicted mainstream pop stardom for her on the level of her vocal heroes, the singer insists that it is equally important for her to express her Latin roots up front. She co-wrote four songs on the album (including “Lay It On The Line” and “Willing to Love”), but even the ones she didn't have a compositional hand in (“Colour Everywhere,” “Pot of Gold”) reflect the struggles and dreams of her childhood growing up in humble circumstances in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“It would have been easy to just gather a handful of great songs that fit my vocal style,” she says, “but I really wanted to take a more personal approach that tells my own story, and that includes the big ballad ‘No More Tears,' which has an acoustic guitar bolero flavor. ‘Willing To Love' talks about my relationship with my family and moves onto a spiritual level. With the uptempo dance track ‘Just Ain't Feelin' It,' I wanted to create something of a female national anthem in the mode of ‘I Will Survive.' For a long time, my show at the Bellagio featured me doing cover songs, but it's slowly been evolving into my own show, where I use more original material to tell the story of my musical influences, my family and my career.”

Diaz's rise in the music industry is a tale that will inspire not only young girls, but everyone who puts value in the power of dreams. Her mother was a single parent who worked hard to put herself through nursing school, and Diaz often ‘played mom' to her two brothers. Her only father figure was her grandfather, who would play the guitar and encourage her to sing at a young age. Though each of these generations was born in the United States, they were still strongly connected to their Spanish, Mexican and Native American roots, and Diaz's early musical influences were a blend of boleros, rancheras and (thanks to her mom) country music.

As she got older and started singing in bands (she became a staple at local fairs), her biggest influences were Whitney and Mariah, and she started singing rock classics by Heart and Journey. Her goal was to leave New Mexico for Los Angeles , but she got sidetracked to Vegas when she was hired by a band from New Mexico that had a Top 40 gig there. That exposure led to two years of touring as a backup singer for Latin superstar Luis Miguel; the two brought houses down everywhere with their passionate duet of ‘How Do You Keep The Music Playing?' She also met her husband Alex, who worked in production during the tour..

Before becoming the house entertainer at The Fontana Room just after The Bellagio opened in 1998, Diaz and her band created such an incredible buzz that they were often put in the opening slots for superstar artists performing in town; these included acts like The Commodores, Richard Elliot, Spyro Gyra, Chuck Mangione and Jean-Luc Ponty.

Diaz and a host of international music celebrities worked on the Music of Love album, featuring her single, "Spirit is Here to Lift You Up," which has been released in Asia . Other performers on the album include Sting, Stevie Wonder, Yolanda Adams, Enya, Take 6 and En Vogue. She was also featured on the new O'Jays album For The Love with the song "Latin Lover."

“Ambition is a curious thing,” Diaz says. “From the time I was a little girl, I had a dream and a purpose that has driven me, and that has been to share my voice and music with the world. I love the career I have in Las Vegas , but my passions run even deeper and I believe my album is just the first step in the next part of my journey. I feel it doesn't matter how many people say you can't do something, you have to try to do it for yourself. No matter the obstacles, it is important to keep moving forward.

“With success also comes responsibility, however,” she adds. “I want to use music as a basis to give back to my community back home and also help develop youth programs to help kids who don't have these kinds of opportunities. I am determined to lead by example, and to make a difference in my family's life. More and more, I become aware of the enormous power music has to make a difference.”
