The Las Vegas Rainbow Bar & Grill welcomes back their hometown punk-pop band the Screaming MeeMees  Wednesday, June 27th at 9:00pm. Their performance will be filmed by WatchIt Entertainment for their internet broadcast television network www.watchitvegas.com and will air online as well as cable television. As the epicenter of the Las Vegas music scene, Las Vegas- based Watchit Entertainment will produce and present the MeeMee's Rainbow show for viewing on www.watchitvegas.com as a special feature.

Hell-bent on upping the ante with each mind blowing, high energy performance, the Screaming MeeMees—fronted by the fiery and charismatic lead female singer Evan Page, along with Christian Brady, Jason Walker, Tyler Nelson and Nick Rich, the Screaming MeeMees are all the more amazing considering that the fivesome officially formed only a year ago. Since then, they've played over 80 shows to SRO crowds at every hotspot in Vegas (Hard Rock, The Joint, Empire Ballroom, Rainbow Bar & Grill) and L.A. (The Whisky, Key Club, Viper Room); recorded and released their first indie album project, The Chronicles Part IV' ; shot a video for their MySpace sensation “Next Ex” with  “Stealing God” director Dave Swuz, which can be viewed here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhI11vbmiHI ; and just released two new songs from their debut (“20 Stupid Ways” and “La La Lee Lee”) to radio.

While cultivated from the same scene as Panic! At The Disco—the Screaming MeeMees have in Page a powerful lightning rod of a weapon that sets their vibe apart from any of the other acts currently making noise in the desert. The title The Chronicles Part IV' barely taps into the edgy reality of her driven, single-minded spirit, which electrifies everyone within shouting and watching distance. Her bandmates complement this with a Sex Pistols meets Green Day vibe and a raw, totally real production style. Together, they create hit after potential hit that perfectly balance serious emotions with a tongue in cheek edge that listeners can giggle along to as they relate.

They Sound Like A Bunch Of SCREAMING MEEMEES!

Since Officially Forming Last February, The Band Has Performed Over 80 Shows at Vegas and L.A Hotspots, And Just Released Its Explosive Debut ‘No Ordinary Girl'

Quick, cover your ears! And while you're at it, tell The Killers and Panic! At the Disco to make room on their throne for the next superstar pop-punk band out of Las Vegas: The Screaming MeeMees .

Hell-bent on upping the ante with each mind blowing, high energy performance, The Screaming MeeMees —fronted by the fiery and charismatic lead female singer Evan Page--are currently exploding in L.A. and their hometown of Las Vegas. This is all the more amazing considering that the fivesome officially formed only last February. Since then, they've played over 80 shows to SRO crowds at every hotspot in Vegas (Hard Rock, The Joint, Empire Ballroom, Rainbow Bar & Grill) and L.A. (The Whisky, Key Club, Viper Room); recorded and released their first indie album project, No Ordinary Girl ; shot a video for their MySpace sensation “Next Ex” with  “Stealing God” director Dave Swuz; and just released two new songs from their debut (“20 Stupid Ways” and “La La Lee Lee”) to radio. Since putting up their myspace page (www.myspace.com/evanpagemusic), The Screaming MeeMees, the response has been, in her Page's words, “beyond ridiculous,” with over 33,000 hits (and counting) by fans.

Page and the boys (guitarists Jason Walker and Christian Brady, bassist Alphonso Bernal and drummer Charlie Smaldino) recently tore up the stage at The Gig in Hollywood as the opening act of BreastFest 2006, an annual benefit concert for Breast Cancer.

While cultivated from the same scene as The Killers and Panic! At The Disco—several members of the band went to high school with members of The Killers--The Screaming MeeMees have in Page a powerful lightning rod of a weapon that sets their vibe apart from any of the other acts currently making noise in the desert. The title No Ordinary Girl barely taps into the edgy reality of her driven, single-minded spirit, which electrifies everyone within shouting and watching distance. Her bandmates complement this with a Sex Pistols meets Green Day vibe and a raw, totally real production style. Together, they create hit after potential hit that perfectly balance serious emotions with a tongue in cheek edge that listeners can giggle along to as they relate.

“The name of the group is perfect for us because it comes from that old expression, ‘damn, you sound like a bunch of screaming meemies!'” says Page. “We're all so high energy and crazy when we perform onstage, and we really do run around like screaming meemies. We were at rehearsal one day, and the name just hit us and we knew we were onto something. At the BreastFest, we literally put a scar on that stage and created the tone for the night. So we definitely deliver on the promise of the name.”

While the Vancouver native has performed literally all over the world (Hong Kong, Korea, Ireland, London, Martinique, etc.), she was never truly “home creatively” until she moved to Vegas and hooked up on the local scene with the guys who became her friends, collaborative partners and ultimately, her band. All of them are Vegas natives who, while only in their mid-20s, are longtime veterans of the local club and concert scene.

Walker and Smaldino are lifelong friends who started their first band at age 12; they were still playing a decade or so later when Page joined them and created a group with what Page now considers a goofy name, “Hear No Evil.” The three disbanded for a brief time, but got back together and hooked up with Brady and Bernal, which resulted in what they immediately felt was an instant creative chemistry.

“We've all played in a lot of local bands over the years, but never had this much high energy fun before,” says Brady, who joined permanently after what was originally planned as a fill-in gig. “The songs we write are strong and make a point, but they're also very tongue and cheek, and the audience likes to join in on the humor with us.

“I think what comes across is the culmination of all of our collective influences,” he adds, “from classic rock like Led Zeppelin to newer bands like My Chemical Romance and The Used. Plus, Evan is a blast, totally compelling onstage. The chemistry we share is that rare magical but necessary thing any successful band must have. That's what ultimately makes the difference between falling to the wayside and taking things to the next level. A lot of exciting things are happening now, and we're committed for the long haul.”

EVAN PAGE
Takes Her Punk-Pop Attitude Back to the World Famous Viper Room Friday, June 23rd In Support of Her Album 'No Ordinary Girl' Which Has Attracted 20K+ MySpace Friends
  * * *
The Canadian Born Artist and World Traveler, Who Sees Herself As ‘A Female Cross Between The All-American Rejects and Blink-182,' Has Performed In Seattle, Hong Kong, Korea, Ireland, London and Martinique

With over 20,000 MySpace friends and counting, you can be sure that Evan Page's straightforward punk-pop style will rock the house off of LA's Viper Room. Coined as "beach bitch music" by one music critic, you can catch Page's Viper Room industry showcase on Friday, June 23rd at 7pm sharp. Back in the good old days, like circa 2000, a driven, up and coming indie singer/songwriter like Page could impress fans and industry tastemakers alike with a resume that includes multiple gigs in Seattle, Hong Kong, Ireland, Korea, London, Martinique and her native Vancouver. But here in 2006, that's just ancient history and anecdotal fodder compared to scoring in a realm that has real culturally groundbreaking  potential—MySpace.com.

Since she put it up last fall, Page's MySpace page (no pun intended) has been, in her words, “beyond ridiculous,” scoring over 21,000 hits (and counting) by fans who can't get enough of the song and video for “Next Ex,” the tough minded, edgy yet humorous first single from her fully DIY, seven song debut project No Ordinary Girl . Traffic has gotten so heavy on the site that Page hired a team to manage it. The overwhelming response—which includes airplay on college radio stations in Washington and Oregon--has led to quick sales of over 6,000 units of the album.

The song's popularity is due to its tremendous, built-in appeal to girls of all ages—its hook asks, “Do you want to be my next ex-boyfriend?”—as well as its crossover attraction to guys who relate to the tomboy elements of Page's personality. The song's elaborately produced video, which was directed by Dave Swuz of Springfield Films--best known for the popular indie film "Stealing God"—incorporates scenes of the singer indulging in her love of hockey, which she has played for over 10 years.

But here in 2006, that's just ancient history and anecdotal fodder compared to scoring in a realm that has real culturally groundbreaking  potential—MySpace.com.

Traffic has gotten so heavy on the site that Page hired a team to manage it. The overwhelming response—which includes airplay on college radio stations in Washington and Oregon --has led to quick sales of over 6,000 units of the album.

The song's popularity is due to its tremendous, built-in appeal to girls of all ages—its hook asks, “Do you want to be my next ex-boyfriend?”—as well as its crossover attraction to guys who relate to the tomboy elements of Page's personality. The song's elaborately produced video, which was directed by Dave Swuz of Springfield Films--best known for the popular indie film Stealing God—incorporates scenes of the singer indulging in her love of hockey, which she has played for over 10 years.

“Last fall, I started recording my album project, writing on every instrument, then hiring session players to flesh out my arrangements, and an independent engineer to record it. My goal is become a fully independent artist like one of my idols, Mia Zapata of The Gits, taking risks and do my own thing. I had various offers to sing for other people, but it was time that I concentrated on putting a new, fresh young band together.  We started by playing places like The Whisky, where Jim Morrison made his mark, The Key Club and The Viper Room.”

Page's driven, single-minded spirit is complemented by a raw, totally real production style and songs that perfectly balance serious emotions with a tongue in cheek edge that listeners can giggle along to as they relate. The next potential single from No Ordinary Girl is “Because Of You,” a self-described “anti-love song” which she wrote after a falling out with a creative partner she was also emotionally involved with.

“I came home from this huge argument and wrote it in two and a half hours,” she says. “It's about a person who thinks his working partner can't succeed without him, so I write, ‘in '69, we landed on the moon, because of you…' as if the world wouldn't revolve without that person in it. I write stuff that is very painful and serious, but I always twist it around to be humorous as well. There's a lot of depression in the world, so I don't want to come across as a whiny bitch. The songs are all autobiographical, all true, and reflect real life experience, but they're not all about ‘poor me.' In fact, I always come out on top. More the dumper than the dumpee. Guys and girls can definitely relate to me.”

Page is especially moved by emails she receives from young girls who face the same sort of subtle ostracizing from their straight laced families, simply for being different or following their own muse rather than conforming. Born and raised near Vancouver , British Columbia , she was adopted at age two by “parents who were good people, but very unsupportive of the music thing unless it involved the church in some way.”

Surrounded by brothers and sisters who were more scholarly and athletic, she channeled her sense of inferiority into her passion for creating music. Joining her elementary school band at age eight was a lifesaver; her band teacher became a mentor, encouraging of all of her endeavors as she picked up, in quick succession, clarinet, sax and then, her favorite instrument, drums.

“Having a lot of older brothers exposed me to a lot of great classic rock that most kids growing up in the 80s and 90s didn't hear,” Page says. “While my friends were listening to early ‘Nsync, I was into old Queen, Led Zeppelin, Cream and The Pixies. I made friends in band with kids of similar interests, and in my early teens, frequently skipped school to go into Seattle and check out some of the grunge bands who were playing there. It was a burgeoning scene, fresh and exciting, and from that point I knew I wanted to pursue my own career in music.”

Her parents didn't quite get it, but after high school, Page put a band together and started playing her own music in clubs, both in Vancouver and Seattle. To help finance some early recording projects, she began singing in daytime shows at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), performing five times a day at this regionally renowned fair. “It was great being eighteen and making money doing music,” she says. “I'd finish singing with the other kids at 5 p.m. , then head over to Seattle for my club gigs at 8:30 . I also started doing jingles for an ad agency in Vancouver , selling soap and cars. Every penny I made I put into getting better gigs and paying my band.”

Blown away by one of Page's shows, an agent in Seattle helped her book a six month tour throughout Asia and Europe , an incredible experience which taught her about the progressive values of these foreign cultures. During this period, she did shows in Hong Kong (at the Grand Hyatt), Korea , London , Buckinghamshire , Ireland (“a hilarious nightmare,” she recalls) and even Martinique . Settling back in Vancouver , she did a play at the Arts Club Theatre for a few months before trekking down to L.A. in true, starving artist, hippy style (rusted VW van and all). After breathing in the sights for a few months with no money in her pocket, she went to Vegas, got hired for a major production, and was on her way to financing a truly independent career for herself.

“It's ironic that despite the lack of support from my parents regarding my artistic endeavors, that I still thank them for instilling good values and morals in my life,” says Page. “I think having been through those problems makes me aware of my responsibility as an artist to those who are going through the same struggles at home. I have a real problem with parents who don't nurture their kids' talents. Kids come away with a negative attitude and sometimes never recover. But I was a fighter, and I know that if you want something badly enough, no one can tell you, you can't do it. It's important that with every level of success one attains, to be able to give back and create something that somehow makes the world a better place for people.”
