The Groove Divinities Self-Titled Debut Released on Oct. 11th Reflects an Ever Evolving Mix Of Spiritual Trippiness, Classic Blues/Rock Edges and Neo-Soul Smooth
The Groove Divinities ' residency at The Joint every Tuesday night at 10 p.m. in Los Angeles has created a quite a stir and you don't know who will be stopping in to check out the band that is on the lips of LA tastemakers and local hipsters. Jerry Poindexter , the legendary keyboard player of "The Godfather of Soul" James Brown Band, stopped by to check out the buzz. Poindexter, who has played for The James Brown Band for 27 years is just one of many legends who have graced the leather booths at The Joint. Carmine Rojas, bassplayer of The Groove Divinities, jammed with Rolling Stone Keith Richards earlier in the year on The Joint's now famous stage.
The Groove Divinites have bowed to the almighty word-of-mouth buzz and have agreed to a residency at The Joint every Tuesday. The allstar lineup of The Groove Divinities have fans clearing the tables as every inch of the club has patrons groov'in to frontman Kenni Ski (Rocafella Records sensations Christion), guitarist and producer Jimmy Sloan (Fishbone, Blind Boys Of Alabama), bassist Carmine Rojas (David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder), keys man Phil Parlapiano (Lucinda Williams, Social Distortion), and drummer Tal Bergman (Billy Idol, LL Cool J,).
“Indie Soul” is what The Groove Divinities have been called, but the best way to describe them is to imagine what would happen if Otis Redding and Sam Cooke were fronting The Rolling Stones and the show was produced by Sly and The Family Stone with just a dash of The Clash for good measure. The self-titled CD, The Grrove Divinities hits stores on Tuesday, October 11th.
The Joint is located at 8771 West Pico Blvd. Los Angeles. $5 cover, 21 and over. The Groove Divinities hit the stage at 10 p.m..
