The Accordion Driven Band Also Places An Incredible Five Songs From Its 2006 Recording ‘Party Dress' In The Top Twenty Of The Best New Songs Category In The “Best of 2006” Competition

It's official, accordion lovers! Passionate fans of the exciting and romantic instrument and Internet Jockeys around the world have chosen Four Time Grammy nominated band LynnMarie & The Boxhounds as Entertainers Of The Year.

In the same “Best of 2006” survey conducted by the international internet radio site five of the originals songs from the band's popular 2006 album Party Dress made the Top Twenty (out of a field of 99 entries) in the Best New Songs category. These include “Happy Feet” at #4, “Party Dress” at #7, “Zivio” at #9, “Glas Harmonike” at #11 and the duet with Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel “Polka Till The Cows Come Home” at #19. The nominations and voting process by the Internet Jockeys and their listening audience took place over the course of six weeks. The IJ's nominated every known recording released in 2006, and fans around the world cast their votes in five categories for the best CDs, songs and entertainers of the year. “Congratulations to all the fans who participated in the voting and to the entertainers that have been recognized for their outstanding contributions,” representatives of 247polkaheaven.com said in a statement. “You are all truly winners.”

US Weekly may have said it best about LynnMarie in a write up of Squeeze Box , the 2000 album that earned the renowned musician her first Grammy nomination: “this is not your grandfather's music.” Jay Leno called her “the Dixie Chick Of Accordion.” And Austin O'Connor of The Sun , a newspaper based in Lowell, Massachusetts where LynnMarie & The Boxhounds have played the National Folk Festival, called her “undoubtedly the sexiest player ever to strap on an accordion!” Rolling Stone chimed in: “LynnMarie is one soulful accordion diva.”

Averaging 40-50 dates a year, she and her band, lead by producer/guitariest Charlie Kelley, have performed at the Bethlehem Music Festival, CMA Fan Fair (in her adopted hometown of Nashville), and South By Southwest. This summer, she and The Boxhounds will be playing Switzerland's Interlochen Festival for the first time, and they have been invited by the US Embassy in Slovenia to perform at their annual 4th of July Celebration in the capital city of Ljubljana. And their music video to The Who's “Squeeze Box” is currently airing on Slovenian television.

While traditionally, even the most popular accordion players have regular day jobs and jam only on weekends, LynnMarie is a fulltimer, making the accordion safe and hip for all generations.

Post Grammys: LynnMarie Is Donning Her Party Dress and Is Ready To Move On

Once dubbed “The Dixie Chick of Accordion” by Jay Leno, Button Box Accordion Great LynnMarie isn't ready to make nice with the genre establishment after her fourth Grammy nomination in the category of Best Polka Album—for the brilliant country-rock-pop influenced Party Dress —didn't take the first woman ever nominated in the genre to the winner's circle. She's determined to move on and create music now for openminded listeners who are eager to embrace her progressive melodic and highly rhythmic accordion music.

“Polka got me to the party, but now I want to get out there and start making music with and for people who think and create beyond the safety net of pigeonholing,” she says. “Creatively, this experience is going to be the best thing that ever happened to me, and I'm excited to be moving on to bigger and better things in my career. I've been a bridesmaid four times now but it's great to be single again and have the freedom to explore new opportunities.”
