COLLECTOR AND BASEBALL AUTHOR SETH SWIRSKY AVAILABLE TO COMMENT ON BARRY BONDS RECORD SETTING BASEBALLS

WILL BONDS GO AFTER JAPAN'S SADAHARU OH'S RECORD OF 868?
* * *
Seth Swirsky Talking Points:
"I think the value of Bonds' 756th, record breaking ball will pale in comparison to what his final homerun will bring: the next "benchmark". Imagine if Bonds, who has surprised us before, wants to break Sadaharu Oh's all-time home run total of 868? What if he decides that the number "900" has nice ring to it? Imagine what the final home run of his career would be worth if it was home run number 914: he will be the world's undisputed all-time home run leader, the only man to have hit 900 and he will have bested babe Ruth by 200 home runs! All talk of his presumed past steroid use would forever be abandoned. Ball # 914 would be worth 3 million dollars at least. If Bonds hits 40 home runs for 4 more years roughly, he could do it!"
Seth started his baseball collection in 1995. One of his favorite pieces is the baseball that went through Bill Buckner's legs in the 1986 World Series. Everyone always says to Seth "I thought Charlie Sheen has that ball!" He did until he sold most of his baseball collection in April, 2000.
Another favorite is Reggie Jackson's third home run ball from the night he hit 3 home runs in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series. They didn't start calling Reggie "Mr. October" until he hit those 3 home runs. This ball earned him his nickname.
Also in his collection: A baseball signed by the Beatles the night they played their famous Shea Stadium concert on August 15, 1965; The home run ball hit by Babe Ruth in 1921 that tied him for the all-time, career lead in home runs with 136; A baseball signed by President Clinton during the baseball strike in 1994 with a poignant message written on it, and a baseball pitched by Johnny Vander Meer during his incredible second consecutive no-hitter on June 16, 1938. With Their Love Of Melodic Pop Songs, The L.A.-Based Duo Blends The Tuneful Optimism Of Renowned Pop Songwriter Seth Swirsky (Taylor Dayne, Al Green, Tina Turner) and The Biting Edge of Rocker Mike Ruekberg (formerly of Minneapolis-Based Pop/Rock Band Rex Daisy )
* * *
The Red Button's Playfully Romantic Debut Single “She's Going Down” Goes For Triple A Radio Adds On February 12 After An Initial Album Rollout on CD Baby, iTunes and Other Digital Outlets
A first-time listener could be forgiven for thinking they had just stumbled onto the second wave of the British Invasion. But never fear—their music may suggest vintage Hollies, Peter and Gordon, and even the Beatles themselves, but The Red Button is home-grown and their songs are brand new.
The Red Button is truly, honestly, the next best thing, as two brilliant L.A.-based singer-songwriters ( Seth Swirsky and Mike Ruekberg ) explore their mutual love for concise, melodic pop songs to create She's About To Cross My Mind , an unabashedly retro debut collection that, while expressing every emotion possible over 11 tracks in a wonderfully crisp 32 minutes, has all the hallmarks of a timeless pop masterpiece: consistently infectious songs wrapped up in air tight harmonies and jangly early Beatles power pop guitars.
David Bash , renowned pop music journalist and Founder/CEO of The International Pop Overthrow Music Festival sums up the duo's vibe beautifully: “It's all here: Merseybeat, bubblegum, psychedelia and folk-pop. Swirsky and Ruekberg can now wear their rightful crown as the Peter Holsapple/ Chris Stamey of The New Millennium”, referring to the best of the highly regarded Beatles-influenced tunesmiths of the 80s and 90s. Pop historian (Shake Some Action: The Ultimate Power Pop Guide) John Borack says the songs were created “the way God and Paul McCartney must have intended.” Even Rooney frontman Robert Schwartzman's a big fan, saying “The Red Button pushes all my buttons!”
“She's Going Down,” The Red Button's breezy, playfully romantic debut single driven by a cool, lyrical double entendre, is going for adds at 175 Triple A Radio Stations across the country on February 12 after an initial rollout for She's About To Cross My Mind on CD Baby, iTunes and other digital outlets. The duo recently signed a distribution deal with Burnside, and envisions the piano-driven “Floating By” and the feisty and whimsical “Cruel Girl” as future singles.
The Red Button is the blissful creative result of one of those hard to explain, delightfully serendipitous meet-ups between musical twins who, in retrospect, almost seem to have been separated at birth. Swirsky may have made his mark penning hit songs in the 80s and 90s for pop superstars like Taylor Dayne (“Tell It To My Heart,” “Prove Your Love”), Al Green (“Love Is A Beautiful Thing”), Tina Turner and Celine Dion, but his heart always lay in the 60's music he grew up with and which inspired his successful career.
Swirsky's tuneful optimism finally met its match in the edgy and biting style of Ruekberg, who spent the 90s as a writer and singer for the underachieving but beloved Minneapolis pop rock band Rex Daisy . Part of Ruekberg's legend is that the band recorded a project with Paul Fox for Geffen Records, only to have it rejected for not sounding enough like Guns N' Roses. No matter. Ruekberg pressed on, continuously writing great songs that blipped just under the radar. Long before he ever met Ruekberg, Swirsky was in love with one of these--“Years,” from the soundtrack to the Adrien Brody-starring indie film Dummy .
The two met through their mutual friend (and Jewel's current drummer) Dorian Crozier , who produced Swirsky's much-acclaimed 2004 solo debut Instant Pleasure . Based on the critical and commercial acceptance of the album, Swirsky could have easily continued his solo career ( Instant Pleasure sold very well with very little promotion, was named Best Pop Album at the 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards, and was also featured on XM's popular Triple-A station The Loft . On January 29th, 2007 , XM50 The Loft added two songs from The Red Button CD to its edgy show In Spite Of All The Danger ). But once Swirsky and Ruekberg started writing songs together, it became clear that Swirsky's next project would be a joint effort. The two also recruited their friend, producer John Fields (Soul Asylum, Switchfoot) to play bass and help with mixing duties. The Red Button was born.
“The great joy of this album is the sheer shameless guilty pleasure of it,” says Ruekberg. “For all its retro-trippiness, The Red Button's sound is what emerges from us naturally when we get together to write and sing. Our goal was always to make these songs fresh and timeless, totally from the heart. She's About To Cross My Mind was a lot of fun to make, and I think you can hear that in every song.”'
Echoing his partner's enthusiasm, Swirsky adds, “I've written with many of pop music's songwriting heavies, but I never enjoyed pure songwriting as much as I did with Mike. I'd play Mike some of my ‘hooks', he'd put it through his ‘blender,' and they'd come out better than I ever intended. A perfect, trusting collaboration.”
Swirsky, a notable baseball memorabilia collector (ask him to show you the ball that went through Bill Buckner's legs, dooming the Red Sox in the 1986 World Series) who has published three bestselling baseball books, is also currently working on a fascinating “bookumentary” project called Beatles Stories. For this, he has shot interviews with, among others, 60s icons Brian Wilson, Justin Hayward, Sir George Martin, May Pang, Denny Laine, Peter Noone, Ray Manzarek, the late Denny Doherty, Cameron Crowe, Beatles engineers Norman Smith and Ken Scott and former first daughter Luci Baines Johnson--anyone with a story about them and The Beatles.
Still, the songs of The Red Button are where Swirsky's true passions lie. “To Mike and I,” he says, “there's nothing as satisfying as writing a song that just makes you want to sing out loud.”
With She's About To Cross My Mind , they succeed in doing that eleven times!

Songwriter Swirsky's first solo CD Instant Pleasure receives rave reviews

The first question you may ask is; "How did he manage to get the domain www.Seth.com? Well it wasn't without a lot of sweat and perserverance to hear Seth Swirsky tell the story. The "manic expressive" Swirsky felt he had to possess it to organize and share his ambitous, almost "Da Vinci-like" artistic endeavors.
Author, songwriter, baseball collector, music historian, graphic designer, film director, fine artist, ...computer visionary? "I just simply ran out of room in the "brick and mortar" world and created my new website as my unlimited creative playground." Said Swirsky at the unveiling of the amazingly creative website Seth.com.
The new vision for his website and an invitation to perform at The Cavern Club in Liverpool England as part of the International Pop Overthrow Festival led to a film documentary, and then to a new multimedia computer player concept that was worthy of his time and energy. The "manic expressive" Swirsky, whose walls are lined with some 30 gold and platinum records from his songwriting, whose books on baseball are best-sellers, and whose first solo CD has made him the darling of music critics, has done it again...
Introducing "THE SETHPLAYER"
Seth's need to share his experience in Liverpool England in his resulting film short "There's A Place", led him to conceptualize a media player on his website (www.seth.com) that would stream his film and music videos (from his solo CD Instant Pleasure and his hit songs by acclaimed artists) strung together, clip after clip, without all the opening and closing that occurs with "RealPlayer." With Seth's vision and funding, inspiration from web designer Jennifer Sharpe and "pixelhead" Ryan Francsconi, THE SETHPLAYER was born.
In addition, THE SETHPLAYER let's you comment on the clips being played. This is something not possible in any RealPlayer or in a QuickTime environment. Stringing QuickTime movies together and the ability to comment on the content is what makes THE SETHPLAYER so unique.
The film short, Seth Swirsky's "There's A Place" (which will have it's analog debut at this years DIY Film Festival in February in Los Angeles), a six song video montage of the songs from his solo CD "Instant Pleasure" is just some of the magic playing now on THE SETHPLAYER. (www.seth.com)
So relax, launch THE SETHPLAYER and enjoy some "Instant Pleasure!"
Speaking of "Instant Pleasure," here is what the critics are saying about Seth Swirsky's latest solo CD release:

On the one year anniversary of the passing of George Harrison, his good friend Eric Clapton brought together some of the world's greatest musical geniuses to play Harrison's music. This celebration of George Harrison's life and music was simply called “Concert for George”.
The Concert for George DVD contains the entire concert from Royal Albert Hall in London, and is truly breathtaking. Some of the artists that play during the concert are Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Dhani Harrison (George's son), Tom Petty, Billy Preston, Ravi Shankar, Monty Python, and a lot more!
On December 1st, 2004, The Knitting Factory will be hosting a benefit screening of the Concert for George, to be followed by some amazing and dynamic live performances by artists influenced by George Harrison. Hit songwriter Seth Swirsky, who met George, when both were on the charts in the late 80s, was happy when asked to perform. “George was a very warm human being, extremely kind and personable,” says Swirsky. When they met, Swirsky was a staff songwriter with Warner Bros. and had just written Taylor Dayne's international smash hit “Tell It To My Heart”. Seth was introduced to Harrison after he had dined with the members of a band he was putting together at the time called The Traveling Wilbury's. During their conversation Seth asked Harrison if he wanted to write a song (!) but George politely said he had a writing session already scheduled with “Bobby”. “It's not everyday that George Harrsion turns you down for Bob Dylan,” says Swirsky. Proceeds from this screening will benefit The American Cancer Society.
George Harrison was one of the first celebrities to really get involved in raising money for charity with his Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. With George's life having been cut short by cancer our goal is honor his memory by raising as much money and awareness as possible for Cancer Research heading into the holiday season.
Seth Swirsky has written songs for artists such as Celine Dion, Rufus Wainwright, Al Green (“Love IS A Beautiful Thing”) and Taylor Dayne. His album Instant Pleasure is available now and features guests such as Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish), Michael Chavez (John Mayer), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, Air) and the Rembrandts. Seth claims that the song which makes him, “think the most” is George's composition “Within You, Without You”. “George thought the song was too ‘heavy' at the time, but it is George's philosophy and spirit all in one song. Seth is a Beatle historian as well as fan. Recently, to fulfill a boyhood dream, he performed at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, England, a “mecca” in the pop music world.
Seth is also a renowned author, having written 3 best-selling books that consist of handwritten letters about baseball from the famous (Paul McCartney and president George W. Bush) and not-so famous.
