TONIC SOL-FA DAY IN MINNEAPOLIS

MINNESOTA BASED VOCAL GROUP
HONORED DURING ANNUAL HOLIDAY CONCERT
AT ORCHESTRA HALL

One of the hardest working and most in-demand music groups in the Midwest, Minnesota based vocal group Tonic Sol-fa (www.tonicsolfa.com) was honored during their annual holiday concert at Orchestra Hall on December 15th with a proclamation from Mayor R.T. Rybak declaring the day as Tonic Sol-fa Day in Minneapolis.  Longtime supporter Jeff Olsen of KARE-11 presented members Shaun Johnson, Mark McGowan, Greg Bannwarth and Jared Dove with the official proclamation on behalf of the Mayor.

 

The proclamation reads:

 

Whereas, Tonic Sol-fa has sold over a million copies of their seven albums without benefit of a record label and independently produces an annual, sold-out over 20 city holiday tour in the Midwest, as well as spring and summer concert tours throughout the U.S; and

 

Whereas, Tonic Sol-fa has been praised by the New York Times as “a vocal kaleidoscope…unique to the human voice"; and

 

Whereas, Tonic Sol-fa's PBS special has aired over 1,800 times in 47 states and in Canada; and

 

Whereas, Tonic Sol-fa is one of the longest running acts in Minnesota State Fair History; and

 

Whereas, Tonic Sol-fa’s original songs, arrangements and albums have won numerous contemporary a cappella awards for best pop album, gospel song and Christmas original, and have been featured on television and in moviesand have garnered positive national reviews; and

 

Whereas, Tonic Sol-fa has enhanced the lives of others with their philanthropic efforts, including contributions to breast cancer research, radio drive appearances for Gillette Children’s Hospital, Music in the Schools Fundraisers, American Red Cross Disaster Relief, Habitat For Humanity and numerous other charities; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, R.T. RYBAK, Mayor of the City of Minneapolis, do hereby proclaim December 15th, 2008 to be

Tonic Sol-fa Day

 

Tonic Sol-fa will wrap-up Holiday Tour 2008 with a three night run at the Historic Paramount Theatre in St. Cloud, Minn., December 29th through New Year’s Eve.  The group is putting the finishing touches on their new album One Of Those Days, expected to be released in the Spring.

TONIC SOL-FA VISITS THE DON SHELBY RADIO SHOW
